Dear Owner/Applicant,
The building permit shown above is scheduled to expire on the date shown. Our information indicates that
the work proposed under this permit has not been completed or finaled. Our records also show that no
inspections have been requested during the last 150 days.
Unless you take further action prior to the expiration date above, you may forfeit your ability to request
further inspections on this project. The options available are listed below (as per County of Orange Codified
Ordinance 03-003 and the California Uniform Building Code Section 106.4.4):
Request extension of unexpired permit: If you have a permit where no construction activity has taken place
or you had to stop for a period of time, and you act before the expiration date you can request in writing
a 'one time 180-day extension' of the permit assuming you can justify your inability to commence work.
Requesting a renewal of unexpired permit: If you have a permit where work has commenced but it has stopped
due to unforeseeable circumstances and you have already used your 'one time 180-day extension' you can
request (prior to the expiration date,) a 180 day renewal of that permit. A permit renewal fee/or additional
deposit may be required. (1/2 Permit Fee)
Requesting renewal of expired permit: If you wait until after the permit is actually expired, you have
an additional 180 days from the expiration date to file for a renewal. This renewal will require the
full payment of all applicable fees/deposits, however the permits will not be subject to the regulations/codes
adopted after the original issuance date. (Full Permit Fee)
Requesting Re-Issuance of expired permit: If your permit is expired for over 180 days and you do not
contact this office, in writing, the permit will become 'Closed-Expired.' If you desire to resume your
project at a later date, you will be required to file a new application and submittal for re-issuance.
The new permit will be subject to the regulations/codes in force at that time. Please note that the new,
reissued permit will have a new permit number and will require payment of new fees/deposits. (Full Plan
Check and Permit).
All requests for extension/renewal must be made in writing to the address above and any applicable fees/deposits
will have to be paid in full before additional inspections are provided. Please use the Permit Extension/Renewal
Request form attached for this purpose.
If you have any questions on this process or specific questions about your permit please contact your
building inspector or call (949) 472-7979.
Sincerely,
Francisco Alonso, Manager
