This project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under Class 1 (Existing Facilities) and Section 15303 Class 3 (New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures) of the CEQA Guidelines, California Code of Regulations, Division 6, Title 14, Chapter 3, because it has no potential to have a significant effect on the environment. Class 1 exempts projects involving negligible or no expansion of use including but not limited to repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features. The Class 3 exemption includes the construction of new small facilities or structures such as utility improvements and residential accessory structures. The Project is limited to the measures that would help maintain public safety from ongoing slope erosion and protect two existing buildings on the project site.
