Sika" MB
Sika° MB
Solvent Free, Epoxy Moisture Barrier
Description
Sika-MS is a 2-component, solvent free. low viscosity.. epoxy for use under wood flooring products, self lev-
eling
underlayments, floating floors and other flooring systems that require protection from subfloor moisture.
Where to Use
■
Moisture barrier to help control moisture propagation in cementltious substrates with a moisture content
not exceeding 6% by Tramex Method and residual moisture up to 100% R.H. or 25 Ibs.i 1000 schit.124 his.
■
For substrate consolidation on concrete, cement and gypsum screeds.
■
Adhesion promoter for old and new adhesive residues in conjunction with other Sikes products.
■
Sika- MB is suitable on concrete, cement, self -leveling and gypsum substrates, OSB, plywood, quarry
and terrazzo tiles. water-soluble adhesive and cutbacks.
Advantages
■
Solvent-free(100% solids)
■
Easy roller applied application, low viscosity
■
Convenient, easy to mix packaging
■
Shorter construction periods
■
Excellent penetration and stabilization of the substrate
■
Reduction of adhesive consumption
■
Suitable for use on floors with radiant heating
■
Compatible with SikaBond-wood flooring adhesives, Sika- Level products.
■
Can be used below floating floors
Coverage
■
250 - 300 sq.ft. per 2.64 US, galpail when used as a moisture barrier
■
400 - 450 sq.ft. per 2.64 US. gal. pail when used as an adhesion promoter or surface consolidator alone
■
MUST produce a monolithic, pinhole -free finish with a continuous film. The need for multiple coats is
directly related to surface absorption.
(Coverage figures do not include allowance for surface profile and porosity or material waste).
Packaging
264 US. gal. pails
Typical Data (Material and curing conditions @ 73-F (23`C) and 50% R-H.)
RESULTS MAY DIFFER BASED UPON STATISTICAL VARIATIONS DEPENDING UPON MIXING METHODS AND EQUIPMENT,

■ All substrates must be dry, stable. sound and free of all contaminants such as grease, oil, paint, wax,
dust curing and sealing compounds that mil Interfere with the penetration of Sika" MB_
■ All loose friable material. including preparation residue li.e. Paint, laitancel, must be completely removed
using an industrial vacuum before application of the Sika- MB. The compressive strength of the substrate
should be at least 1,160 psi at 28 days with a minimum tensile strength of 116 psi at the time Sika- MB is
applied Repair with Sika- Level SkimCoat or Sikaouick- mortar before pnming.
■ Substrate must have an open textured surface to allow Sika- MB to penetrate. Blast cleaning grinding
are considered acceptable means to achieve the desired surface profile but sure and chemical etching are
not acceptable.
