provides foodforaffwho needit with a concentratedfocus on ourmost vulnerable populations — children,
working families, college students, and seniors; and
UMEW.7S, food insecurity is a real and pervasive reality in Orange County, noted by the fact that
nearly 50% of Orange County pu6fic school students rely on school meals as their primary source of
nutrition, and 1 in 11 children in Orange County is considered food insecure; and
IPMW,f7S, SecondYfarvest distri6uted over 3 6.2 million pounds of food to an average 392,666 people
per month in 2023; and
UMM, SecondYfarvest reties primarily on private donations (with approximately 64% of its food
donated and also relies significantly on volunteers (with over 70, 000 volunteer hours donated fast year);
and
`WJ&W,AS, Second Yfarvest has been an integral part of our County, having celebrated its 40tf,
anniversary on October 24, 2023.
