The Bonita Creek Community Center Improvements included the installation of a new
roof system, a new ceiling and floors, a drinking fountain, new plumbing fixtures,
IT installations, LED light fixtures and controls, exterior concrete work, and an automatic
lock for the public restroom door. Contract No. 9333-1 has now been completed to the
satisfaction of the Public Works Department.
There were seven change orders totaling $43,559.96. This amounted to 8.9% of the
original contract amount and was within the contingency allowance. The added work/cost
is primarily due to various unknown conditions encountered throughout the project during
demolition including difficulty accessing existing plumbing and finding additional damaged
roof members in need of replacement. Additional areas of concrete were also added to
project to provide better drainage away from the building. Automated door hardware and
additional paint were also added to provide a better final product and ease of use.
A summary of the project schedule milestones is as follows:
Estimated Start of Construction per Annual Baseline Schedule April 1, 2024
Actual Start of Construction Per Notice to Proceed March 18, 2024
Contract Completion Date with Approved Extensions July 25, 2024
Actual Substantial Construction Completion Date July 25, 2024
Due to contract change orders for unforeseen items as well as requests by City staff, the
contractor was granted 16 additional days to complete the project.
