Contractor to verify all dimensions and conditions at the site. 2. All construction shall conform to requirements of Industrial Safety Division of the State of California and of the local Building Code. 3. Excavations shall be cased where sloughing or caving occurs. Casings shall be used far excavations adjacent to existing RCP. 4. It will not be necessary to dewater the holes for soldier or anchor piles providing the concrete is tremied into position with approved devices. 5. Soil Engineer's reprosentative shall review the wall design and installation at the wall shall be performed under the continuous inspection and approval of the Soils Engineer. 6. Contractor shall locate all existing utility lines prior ta excavating. SHAFTS 1. Vertical shafts ore to be macn,ne drilled and accurately located so that soldier piles ore in proper relation to the new bike trail and existing RCP and wingwalls. Provide protection against sloughing or caving, as required. 2. The Soil Engineer shall verify that the size and depth of each drilled hole complies with the approved plans. A log of depth reading for each drilled hole shall be ovailab/e for the inspector. 3. The Soil Eng,'.neer shall post written certification at the job site ind/eating that the tie rods have been Installed !n accordance with procedure indicated below and the results meet the minimum requirements. CONCRETE: f. Concrete, in the vertical anchor pile shafts shall be 4000 psi for the full depth and 3250 psi in the vertical soldier pile shafts shafts below the bottom of lagging. Other concrete construction shall be 3250 psi: All concrete strengths exceeding 2000 psi in 28 days shall be continuously inspected. 2. Concrete, in the vertical soldier pile shafts above bottom of lagging shall be a slurry mix of cement and sand. (1-1/2 sack cement per cubic yard). 3. Na calcium chloride shall be allowed in concrete at tie rods and areas of connection. STEEL i. All structural steel per ASTM A-36 specification. 2. All structural steel pipe per ASTM A-53 Grode 8. 3. Tie rod shall be DYWIDAG THR£ADBAR (ULT. fpu = 150 ksi). 4. Reinforcing bars shall be intermediate grade, deformed bars, conforming to ASTM A-615, grode 60. 5. Shear connectors shall conform to AWS Supplement requirements for Stud Welding. 6. Electric arc welding electrodes shall be £70XX and placed by certified welders, All field welding shall be continuously inspected. STRUCTURAL TIMBER 1. Treated Douglas Ar or Equivalent, Grade Number 2, Full Sawn. CONSTRUCT/ON PROCEDURE 1. Excavate to bottom of lagging elevation for soldier piles and to pile cop elevation for anchor pifos. 2. Drill vertical shafts for soldier and anchor piles. 3. Place soldier piles and anchor pile reinforcement. 4. Fill soldier pile shafts to bottom of logging elevation and anchor pill!! shafts to pile cap elevation with concrete, A deputy inspector shall be present for placing of all structural concrete. 5, Begin backfill in lifts as determined by the sci/ Engineer's representative to bottom of waler elevation, placing wood lagging as required. t11/ any voids behind lagging. 6. Construct pile cap and waler, place reinforcement only fer anchor tie. 7. Tension tie rod to either the specified design food or ,.mtil a relative deflection of 1/4" is achieved between the anchor pile and the waler, whichever comes first. Repeat procedure 5, until backfill is complete. 10. Construct concrete cap, concrete facing, and guardrail. TESTING OF SHEAR CONNECTORS A.
