Based on review of the referenced reports, we anticipate that the excavation for the grease interceptor will expose previously placed compacted fills and the grease interceptor will also be underlain by compacted fill soils. The groundwater table is deep below the site and is not anticipated to be encountered during construction of improvements. Excavations are not anticipated to encounter significant amounts of groundwater, thus no dewatering is anticipated at the site. Depending upon the time of year that construction is performed, there could be wet zones in the soil from the surface waters percolating down through the fill. These times could be during the rainy season, and also during late summer when there is heavier irrigation being performed. Excavations should be stabilized per OSHA requirements (shoring or laying back of the excavation walls). We anticipate that the onsi(e soils may fall within the classifications of Type H in accordance with Cal-OSHA standards. Backfill materials should be moisture-conditioned as needed to near optimum and compacted to a minimum relative compaction of 90 percent. Rocks greater than 12 inches in the largest dimension arc not suitable as backfill material. Alternatively, self-compacting materials (i.e. crushed rock, pea gravel or sand/cement slurry mix) may be used to backfill the grease interceptor. The geotechnical consultant should be notified of the type of backfill materials to be utilized at the site and be present during the backfill operations, as necessary.
