SPECIFICATIONS NOTES
All construction detailed on these plans shall be performed in accordance with the
. Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (1976 Edition} except as
modified by the City's Standard Drawings and Special Provisions and this contract's.
Special Provisions,
REMOVALS
All P.C.C. andA.C. removals shall be outlinedtq necessa,yworking Jimitsand
sawcut ta a minimum depth of 2 inches prior to removal• •
All material removed that is not suitable for use cm this project as directed by the
Engineer, or as otherwise specified herein, shall become the property of the con-
tractor and shall be disposed of away from the job site in a manner and at a location
acceptable to all cognizant agencies.
Existing water mains, valves, fittings, fire hydrants, etc, that are removed by the
contractor shall, as determined by the Engineer, remain the property of the City.
The contractor shall deliver these materials to the City Utilities Yard al 949 West
16th Street.
CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING WATER SYSTEM AND SHUT DOWNS
The contractor shall excavate all new connections to existing mains or fittings in
advan~e ta verify the type of each connection required. The contractor shall
notify the City's Utilities Superintendent at least 48 hours in advance of the need to
shut down or connect to any existing water maim, No shut downs will be allowed
on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays.
Connections to the existing water system shall be made as shown hereon and in • '
accordance with Subsection 306-1,2.12 of the City's Standard Special Provisions.
The contractor.shall be responsible for maintaining water service to the residences
affected by the work, Full service shall be maintained during the night hours, and
temporary disruptions in water service during the day shall not exceed four (4)
hours. (See Section VII of this contract's Special Provisions for Notice to
Residents requirements,)
5, PROTECTION AND REPLACEMENT OF EXISTING SURFACE IMPROVEMENTS
All P .C .C. and A .C. improvements removed by the contractor shall be replaced as
shown in the Typical Trench Section hereon. Al.I other surface improvembnts shall
be protected in place, or if rea,oved or damaged by the contractor1s operations,
shall be restore.cl tq_.thElir original condition prior to construction, Bricks shall be
carefully and neatly removed and stockpiled by the con_tractor, and reinstalled
to at least the quality and appearance of the area prior to removal. Landscaping
materials shall be removed only to the extent required lo construct the items
shown hereon, and restored as dir~cted by the Engineer after completion of all
improvements~
6, EXISTING UTILITIES
Existing utilities shown are based on available records of parent utility companies.
Prior to construction, the contractor shall verify the actual locations of all utilities ,
in the field or coardinate such independent verification with the p:,rent utility
.
companies, He shal I protect in place and be responsible for any damage to
existing utilities encountered during conStruction.
