1. ALL WORK AND MAlERIALS SHALL COMPLY ~TH THE WORK AREA TRAFFIC CONTROL HANDBOOK.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE ALL SIGNS, DEUNEATORS. BARRICADES. ETC., PROPERLY INSTALLED PRIOR
TO COMMENCING CONSTRUCTION.
3. LANE CLOSURE HOURS SHALL BE BETWEEN 8:30 A.M. AND 3:30 P.M. MONDAY THRU FRIDAY.
4. DURING NON WORKING HOURS TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR LANE CLOSURES SHALL BE REMOVED TO ALLOW FOR USE
OF ALL LANES. THE EXCEPTION IS FOR PAVEMENT REMOVAL, REPLACEMENT AND UTILITY STRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION,
WHICH ~LL REMAIN BARRICADED UNTIL FIRST PAVEMENT COURSE IS APPLIED, OR AS DIREClED BY THE ENGINEER.
5. ALL lEMPORARY STRIPING AND MARKINGS SHALL CONFORM TO THE CALTRANS STANDARD PLANS
AND SPECIFICATIONS. RAISED PAVEMENT MARKERS SHALL NOT BE USED.
6. FLASHING YELLOW BEACONS, TYPE 'B', SHALL BE USED ON ALL C18 SIGNS AND ON ALL
TYPE Ill BARRICADES GUARDING THE WORK AREA OVERNIGHT ..
7. ALL ADVANCE WARNING SIGN INSTAULATIONS SHALL BE EQUIPPED ~TH FLAGS FOR DAYTIME CLOSURES.
B. ALL DELINEATORS SHALL BE 28" MINIMUM PORTABLE, REFLECTORIZED RUBBER GUIDE POSTS, ORANGE IN
COLOR, ~TH WEIGHTIED BASES OR SANDBAG RINGS AND SHALL BE KEPT IN THEIR PROPER POSITION AT
AT ALL TIMES AND SHALL BE REPAIRED, REPLACED OR CLEANED AS NECESSARY TO PRESERVE THEIR
APPEARANCE AND CONTINUITY AT THE CONTRACTORS EXPENSE.
9. ALL SIGNS SHALL BE REFLECTORIZED AND STANDARD SIZE UNLESS SHOWN OTHER~SE.
10. TYPE I AND II BARRICADES MAY BE USED IN ADDITION TO THE RUBBER GUIDE POSTS, AT THE
DISCRETION OF THE CONTRACTOR, WHEN THEY ARE INlENDED TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL EMPHASIS
IN AREAS WHERE WORKERS ARE PRESENT.
11. CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS SHALL BE CONDUClED IN SUCH A MANNER AS TO CAUSE AS umE
INCONVENIENCE AS POSSIBLE TO ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS.
12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN, ON A 24-HOUR BASIS, ALL SIGNS, DELINEATORS, BARRICADES, ETC.
TO INSURE PROPER FLOW AND SAFETY OF TRAFFIC.
13. PRESSURE SENSITIVE TRAFFIC MARKING TAPE AND/OR STRIPING PAINT MAY BE USED TO SUPPLEMENT
THE CHANNELIZING DEVCES, DELINEATORS. REFLECTORIZED SIGNS. AND BARRICADES.
14. ALL CONFLICTING STRIPES, PAVEMENT MARKINGS, AND LEGENDS SHALL BE COMPLElELY REMOVED BY
WET SANDBLASTING OR OTHER METHOD APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER PRIOR TO ANY CHANGE IN THE
TRAFFIC PATlERN.
15. WHERE WORK IS BEING PERFORMED AT SIGNALIZED INlERSECTIONS OR DElECTION AREAS ARE DAMAGED,
THE SIGNAL SHALL BE PLACED ON VEHICLE RECALL BY THE ENGINEER.
16. AT SIGNALIZED INlERSECTIONS TWO SIGNAL HEADS SHALL BE VISIBLE TO APPROACHING TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES.
17. THESE PLANS INDICAlE VEHICULAR TRAFFIC CONTROL IN THE WORK AREA DURING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY.
ADDITIONAL TRAFFIC CONTROLS, TRAFFIC SIGNS, OR BARRICADES MAY BE REQUIRED IN THE FIELD. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PLACEMENT OF ANY ADDITIONAL DEVICES NECESSARY TO
ASSURE SAFETY TO THE PUBLIC AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION.
18. THE CITY ENGINEER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE ANY CHANGES NECESSARY AS FIELD CONDITIONS WARRANT.
ANY CHANGES SHALL SUPERSEDE THESE PLANS AND BE DONE SOLELY AT THE CONTRACTORS EXPENSE.
19. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE CITY ENGINEER OR HIS REPRESENTATIVE AT LEAST FIVE
WORKING DAYS IN ADVANCE OF INITIATING ANY CONSTRUCTION DETOUR. \ 20. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE TRAFFIC ENGINEER (714)644-3344 TO LOCATIE EXISTING TRAFFIC SIGNAL
DElECTION FIEED POINTS AT LEAST TWO WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO COLD PLANING OR ANY WORK WHICH MAY ~
DAMAGE EXISTING TRAFFIC LOOPS. ONCE THE ENGINEER HAS MARKED THE LOCATION OF THE EXISllNG TRAFFIC _-
SIGNAL DElECTION FEED POINTS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AVOID COLD PLANING THOSE AREAS. HENCE, ANY
DETECTION DEVICES LOCAlED BY THE ENGINEER WHICH ARE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF COLD PLANING SHALL _-
BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED AT THE CONTRACTOR'S SOLE EXPENSE ~THIN FIVE WORKING DAYS. REPLACEMENT
