The contractor shall be responsible for verifying the actual location and elevation in the field prior to beginning construction of the new facilities . 4. Curb data refers to face of curb. 5. All exposed concrete surfaces shall conform in grade, color and finish to. all adjoining curbs and walks . 6. All underground work shall be completed prior to paving of street and driveways. 7. Pavement sections shown are minimum and subject to revision and approval of the city as required by soil tests taken after completion of rough grading. 8. Sewer manholes shall be left below pavement grade and brought to finish grade after pavement is in place . 9. Stations shown thus (0+00) are storm drain stations and are independent of all other stations. 10. Sewer, water and storm drain lines distances shown in profile and in the estimated quantities are horizontal distances. 11. The contractor shall request inspection from the Public Works Department 48 hours in advance of performing any work at 644-3311. The Public Works Department Inspector shall also be notified after placement of forms and prior to placement of any concrete for curb & gutter so that the forms can be checked for line and grade and comparability with existing construction. 13. The walls and face of all excavations greater than (5) feet in depth shall be effectively guarded by a shoring system: Sloping of the ground or other equivalent means. Trenches or excavations less than five (5) feet in depth shall also be guarded when ·examination indicates that hazardous ground movement may be expected. 14. The contractor(s) shall obtain a permit to perform excavation or trench work as described in No. 13 above from CAL-OSHA. 15. All storm drain, sewer and water pipe shall be bedded per City of Newport Beach STD--106-L. 16. VCP sewer pipe may be used in lieu of PVC pipe by special permission. Pipe shall be manufactured per ASTM D-3034 SDR-35 or ASTM F-789. All fittings shall be prefabricated full-body fittings. PVC sewer pipe bedding shall be¾" crushed rock from 6" below the pipe to 12" above the top of pipe and shall be consolidated by jetting prior to completion of trench backfill. 17. Ductile Iron Pipe shall be Class 52 and shall have an 8 mil loose polyethylene encasement as per Section 207-9.6.2 of the Standard Specifications. 18. Thrust Blocks shall be installed on all water main fittings in accordance with City of Newport Beach STD-510-L. 19. Water mains shall have a minimum of 30" of cover from subgrade. 20. All concrete shall be 560-C-3250. 21. Slope anchors shall be provided on all Jines in accord with City of Newport Beach STD-314-L. 22. A.C.P. ,vith a D-load of one and one half greater than required for R.C.P. may be used for storm drains. 23. All sewer Jines to be owned, operated and maintained by the City of Newport Beach shall be video inspected after cleaning, air testing and mandrilling. All video inspection shall be performed by the City Utilities Department. The developer shall pay the current rate established by the City for video inspection. Any sewer line found to be installed incorrectly, defective, damaged or otherwise compromised shall be repaired/replaced and reinspected, including air test, mandril and video, prior lo acceptance. 24. The contractor shall notify the Fire Department 48 hours in advance of shutting off any fire hydrants at 644-3106. 25. The Fire Department shall be notified 48 hours in advance of all lane closures. 26. That a fire protection system acceptable to the Fire Department be installed by the developer and tested by the Fire Department prior to storage of any combustible materials or start of any structural framing. 27. All flanged pipe joints shall be joined utilizing type 316 stainless steel nuts, washers and hex-head bolts. Gaskets shall be full-faced, cloth reinforced Buna-N rubber. 28. Flex and transition couplings used to join pipe in water main construction shall have all threaded parts and joining hardware fabricated from type 316 stainless steel. 29. Pipe harness assemblies, valve and fitting restaints and shackle-clamp assemblies shall be joined utilizing type 316 stainless steel all-thread rod, nut bolts and washers. Clamps, shackles other hardware may be carbon steel or ductile iron where appropriate, but must be coated liberally with corrosion protective mastic compound. 30. Bolted connectors fabricated from type 316 stainless steel shall have threaded parts coated liberally with an approved anti-cease compound. 31. All bolted and threaded fasteners shall be manufactured in the United States of America and shall conform to the minimum requirements for strength, material construction and dimension as established by the ASTM and the ANSI ,--,--,--,----c=--I :Specifications.
