I.
All structural steel shall conform to ASTM A36.
All fabrication and erection shall conform to the latest Standard Edition of P,!SC
Specifications for the Design, Fabrication, and Erection of Structural Steel for
Buildings.
No fie1d cutting or burning of structural steel shall be permitted without wtitten
approval of the Structura ·1 Engineer.
Anchor bolts and unfinished bolts sha11 conform to ASTM A307.
J\1 l welding shall be done by the electric arc process using approved coated rods
and perforr,ied by certified welders. All fabrication and welding shall be per-
formed in the shop of an approved fabricator. Welding rr.ay be performed using the
submerged arc process with automatic welding {SAW-1). low hydrogen electrodes
sha"ll be used in welding of reinforcing bars.
i\11 pipe shall conform to ASTM A53 Grade 'B'. (35 ksi)
All tube shall conform to ASTM A501. (36 ksi)

The following notes and typical details apply to all drawings unless noted
othervJi se.
Framing conditions not specifically shown shall be framed similar to the details
shown for the respective materials.
1\11 construction and workmanship shall conform to the 1973 Uniform Building Code.
Contractor must verify all dimensions and site conditions before starting work. ~ Cit-y shall be notified o-f any discrepancies.
The contract drawings -and specifications represent the finished structure. Un-
1ess otherwise shown 1 they do not indicate the method of construction. The con-
tractor shall sup?rvise and direct the work and he shall be solely re.sponsib1e
for a 11 construct, on means, methods, techniques, sequences and procedures. Ob-
servation visits to the site by field representatives of the Architect/Engineer
sha11 not include inspections of the protective measures or the construction
pro~edures r~quired for sarae. Any support services performed by tl1e Architect/
Engineer during construction shall be distinguished from continuous and detailed
inspection services which are furnished by others. These support services per-
formed by the .n.rchitect/Engineer, .whether of material or work, and whether
performed prior to, during or after completion of construction are performed
solely for the purpose of assisting ·Jn qual·ity control and in achieving confor-
mance vf!th contract draw"ings and specifications, but they do not guarantee con-
tractor is p_erformance and sha11 not be construed as supervision of construction.

Design bearing pressure is 1200 pst for footings placed a minimum distance of
12-inches be1ow approved finished grade. The design bearing pressure is in-
creased 33% for seismic or wind loading.
Design lateral bearing pressure is 250 psf/ft with a 33% increase for seismic
or wind loading and a 200~?, ·increase for isolated pole type footings.
7. Design coefficient of friction is 0.40 with a 33% increase for seismic or wind
loading.
CONCRETE
1. No pipes or ducts are to be placed in concrete footings unless specifically de-
tailed.
2. fa.ggregates shall be natural sand and rock conforming to ASTM C33.
3. All concrete shall attain a minimum cor.1pressive strength of 2000 psi at 28 days.
4. Lap all bars a minirr.um of 36 bar diams. (2 1 -011 min.) at all sp'lices unless noted

5. Sp1ices of horizonta1 rebar in footings shall be staggered.
6. Dowels for walls shall be same size and spacing as the v1a11 reinforcement and
shall lap with the wall rebar as noted above un1ess noted otherwise.
