REPAIR OF SPAJ.1. & UNSOUND CONCRETE
GENERAL
!. Make a sawcut f Inch deep, minimum, on each face of
the concrete to be removed. The sawcut shall not extend
beyond the removal flmlts. Chip out concrete between
sawcuts to a plane surface, then. chip out and remove all
delamlnated, unsound or Imperfect concrete.
2. Repair area to have a surface prof!le of +½5 Inch.
Edges with adjacent surfaces shall be left sharp and
square.
3. After chipping and removal have been completed, all
exposed reinforcing bars shall be thoroughly cleaned of
rust, mortar or other deleterious substances by power
tool cleaning, sandbfast!ng or otoor approved means,
or shall be removed and replaced per the direction of
the Engineer.
4. Coat any exposed rebar with Armatec 110 Ant/-
Corrosion coating or approved equal.
5. All fines or dust shall be removed from too chipped
surfaces by an air Jet or by vacuum. If an air Jet Is
used, core shall be token to Insure that no o!I Is In too
air system. A suitable of/ trap shall be !n service during
the air cfeanlng.
6. Begin patching spafls after all crocks within the
spaf/ed areas have been repaired and !n}ected. Repair
cracks greather than 0.125 Inches wide, and obtain
engineers acceptance of crack and repairs prior to
patching spat/ areas.

clean and saturated surface dry. Scrub mortar Into the

A Crack Sealing
I. Use epoxy paste seater to Install Inject! rt devices and to caulk and seal
cracks.
2. Space metal or plastic Injection port tube , or other approved !nject!on port
devices. approximately 12 Inches on center. required, decrease port spacing
to Insure maximum penetration of the fn} ted e xy. Increase port spacing
only with the Engineer's approval.
B. Cracking Healing
I. The Injection head shall elt: r mix the epoxy compone ts at the point of
ln}ect!on. or receive epoxy co '{)Onents mixed and pumped rom a pressure pot.
2. Once Injection has been arted on a crack, It shall be ont!nued uninterrupted
untll the crack has been co letely Injected. Sufficient mater Is shall be
Immediately avalloble at the 'jobslte before starting Injection.
3. Start Injection at the rawest elevation point along a vertical c ck and at an
end of a horizontal era . Continue Injection unt/1 epoxy appears the next
consecutive port.
4. Cap or seal tm njectlon port with exuding epoxy and continue Jectlon. Cap
or seal each succes Ive port where epoxy appears. When epoxy no Ion er
exudes, continue Jectlon after a rise In grouting pressure for appr lmate/y
one minute.

which has not een capped or sealed. Continue In this manner unt/1 the er k Is

6. Upon mpletlon of the crack Injection, all excess epoxy sealer and lnje
