ORDINANCE SUMMARY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on December 9, 2025, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, California, adopted an Ordinance entitled:
ORDINANCE NO. 2025-35
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH,
CALIFORNIA, REPEALING AND REPLACING CHAPTER 12.56 (BICYCLES -
REGISTRATION AND REGULATIONS) OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL
CODE
The ordinance updates the Newport Beach Municipal Code to heighten and enhance
bicycle safety in the public right-of-way.
Ordinance No. 2025-35 was approved by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Barto, Blom, Grant, Kleiman, Stapleton,
Weber and Weigand
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
RECUSED: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
The ordinance will become effective 30 days after adoption date. A copy of the above ordinance
is available at the City Clerk's Department, 100 Civic Center Drive, Newport Beach, California or
by calling (949) 644-3005.
