Referred to the Planning Commission was a letter dated

December 12, 1960, addressed to the City Council, signed
by James B. Stoddard, Chairman, Orange County Coastal
Transportation Committee, pertaining to recommendations
for improvements of Coast Highway 101 from Seal-Beach
through Dana Point.
After a lengthy discussion Commissioner nicker moved
that the matter be referred back to the city Council

Referred to the Commission was a letter addressed to
the City Council dated December 5, 1960,' signed by
Mel Berry, President, Newport Heights Improvement
Association, requesting the abandonment of the .street

right- of- way'from Riverside Drive to Cliff Drive at
Beacon Street.
The Commission, at a meeting on September 1, 1960, upon
the request of the Parks, Beaches and recreation CommYs-
Sion, considered the abandonment of the street right,of-

way in the Cliff Drive Park, which is the same street
referred to in the letter from Mr. Mel Barry, and took
the following actions
"The Commission felt that in the forseeable
future, in order to assure a better and safer
traffic flow, existing right -of -way in the
Cliff Drive Park should be improved and that
its status should be left upon the Master Plan."
This previous action was reaffirmed.

of both, the Commission found and determined that the

been filed with'the Planning Department for future
reference.
Chairman Clemence stated that a Committee would be
appointed at the next meeting to make a study of exist-
ing regulations regarding the subject matter.

On motion of Commissioner Steelman, seconded by
Commissioner Rudd, and carried, the meeting was
adjourned.
