MIN- Commissioner Briggs made a motion to approve the minutes of the Planning Com-
UTES: mission meeting for December 21st, 1950, as submitted to the Commission, seconded by
Commissioner Pleger and carried.
PUBLIC Variance: Chairman Longmoor opened the first hearing of the evening on the Variance
HEARINGS: application of Harry W. Mekeel for a 31 foot front yard variance on Lot 26,
Block 4, ection 2, Balboa Island, and read a letter from Warren W. Jaycox saying
that he had no objection to the granting of such variance providing the variance
does not permit any part of the proposed building to extend beyond the front line
of his dwelling.
After discussion among commissioners, it was decided that there wasn't enough in-
formation on hand for the Commission's inspection in order to act upon the appli-
cation at all.
Commissioner Rudd, therefore, made a motion that the hearing be closed, seconded.
by Commissioner Reed and carried.
Commissioner Smith then moved that the matter be laid on the table for further i"
vestigation and be considered at the Commission's next meeting, seconded by Com-
missioner Pleger, and carried.
Chairman Longmoor appointed Commissioners Reed, Rudd, and Briggs as a Committee to
investigate same.
' Re- zoning, 2nd Hearing: Chairman Longmoor opened the second hearing on the appli-
cation of E. Morris Smith for the re- zoning of Lots 1 and 3, Block 4360 Corona del
Mar, from R -2 to C -1. After much discussion, it was decided that the Commission
couldn't act upon the application under the old ordinance with the new ordinance
becoming effective.shortly, and that there wasn't anything to do but deny this ap-
plication now, but if Mr. Smith wanted to make application again under the new
ordinance, the Commission would again consider same.
Commissioner Pleger made a motion that the hearing be closed, seconded by Commis-
sioner Briggs; motion carried. Commissioner Pleger then made a motion, seconded
by Commissioner Rudd that the application for re- zoning be denied, carried by the
following roll call vote, to -wit:
AYES: Commissioners: Brrggs, Ellerbroek, Longmoor, Pleger, Reed, Rudd, and Smith.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Commissioners: Copelin, and Wightman.
Re- subdivision: Applications of Paul 0. Cleland and Walter S. McEachern for a
re- subdivision on Lots 3, 41 5, and 6, Block 34, Corona del Mar. This had.be.en
laid on the table at the last meeting for further investigation and so no action
was taken at the present time.
.COMMUNI- Chairman Longmoor read a letter from City Clerk, C. K. Priest advising of the Counf
CATIONS:cil's approval on the new zoning ordinance #635 and commending the Planning Commis-
sion for its work on the ordinance. The letter was ordered filed.
ADJOURN -There being no further business, Commissioner Pleger made a motion for adjournment,
