THE NEWPORT BEACH CITY PLANNING COMMISSION met in adjourned
• session Monday, March 6, 1939, 7:00 P.m. in the Council
Chambers, City Hall; Chairman Hopkins presiding.
Meeting called to order by the Chairman.

ROLL CALL -
Commissioners present: Hopkins, Seeger, Briggs,
Patterson, Whitson; Findlay arrived late.
Commissioners absent: Estus, Hodgkinson, Williams
excused.
Building Uspector Nelson attended.
Chairman stated, that, since this was an adjourned neet, -_i
ing, the regular order of business would be dispensed with
if there were no objections.
SEOOND HEARING ON APPLICATION OF P. G. BALATON FOR RE
ZONING OF LOT 5, BLK 5, SEASHORE COLONY FROM
R -3 to 0-1.
Hearing was declared open for discussion by the
Chairman. He inquired if anyone present wished to diseva s
this matter. No response.
Com. Patterson presented a revised plot plan showing
the lot lines and location of proposed buildings thereon.
This was accepted as satisfactory by the Commission.
Secretary stated that no protests had been received
other than the one from Mr. & Mrs. Cleveland read at
the first hearing.,
Com. Briggs moved the adoption of Resolution No. 154
recommending that Lot 5, Blk 5, Seashore Colony be rezoned
from R -3 to C-1 and that the same be transmitted to the
City Council by the Secretary as the recommendation of this
commission and a copy filed as part of the minutes of
this meeting. Seconded by Com. Whitson.
Roll Call:
Ayes: Hopkins, Seager, Briggs, Patterson, Whitson.
Now None.
Motion carried and to ordered by the Chairmen.
HEARING -
ON VARIANCE APPLICATION OF ANNA M. LANaJAHR
Application of Anna M. Langjahr for a 5 ft. 50% front
yard setback variance on Lot 43, Tract 742, Balboa Island
was read by the Secretary. He stated that the hearing
had been regularly advertised, plans posted, postcard
notices sent to surrounding property owners and all other
requirements of the ordinance complied with. No written
protests had been received.
Chairman inquired if anyone present wished to protest

the granting of this variance. No response.
Plana and plot plan were examined by the Commission.
Com. Patterson moved the adoption of Resolution No.
155 recommending that a 5 ft., 50%ifront yard setback
variance on Lot 43, Tract 742, Balboa Ieland be granted
to Anna M. Iangjahr and that the same be transmitted to
the City Council by the Secretary as the recommednation
of this commission and a copy filed as part of the minutes
of this meeting. Seconded by Coma Whitson.'

Motion carried and so ordered by the Chairman.
DISCUSSION OF MAJOR TRAFFIC THOROUGHFARE MAP.
Com. Whitson informed the Commission that the City
Council wished to discuss the Major Traffic Thoroughfare
Map with the Planning Commission and suggested that an
informal meeting be held for that purpose at any time
convenient to the members of the Planning Commission.
Com. Briggs moved that the Planning Commission meet
informally with the City Council Monday, March 13, 8:00
p.m. to discuss the Major Traffic Thoroughfare Map.
Seconded by Com. Patterson.
Motion carried and so ordered by the Chairman.
ADJOURNMENT -
On motion of Com. Findlay, seconded by Com. Whitson
and carried the meeting adjourned.
