THE NEWPORT BEACH CITY PLANNING COMMISSION met
in regular session Wednesday, April 16th, 1941, 7.30 P.M.
in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Chairman Johnson presid-
ing. Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Commissioners present: Estus, Seager, Johnson, ROLL CALL
Patterson;'Nelson.
Commissioners absent: Findlay, Hall, Hopkins,
Allen.
Com. Seager'stated that Mrs. Victor Grace, 321
Alvarado Pl., Balboa was present with the intention of
bringing a matter before the Commission. -As she had-only a
limited time, Com. Seager suggested she be heard first. Mrs
Grace suggested the idea of clocking the crowd coming into
town and only a limited number allowed in - or as an alter -:
native that one street be kept open for fire apparatus, dur-
ing such times as Easter Week or the Tournament of Lights
when the town is so crowded. She stated that Balboa had been
fortunate in never having had a large fire when the town was
so crowded. Com. Patterson advised Mrs. Grace that all that
this body could do was to make a recommendation to the City.
Council. Mrs. Grace was advised to contact the Fire Dept.,
Police Dept., or City Council.
The-minutes ofMar. 26th were called for consid-
eration by the Chairman who suggested that the motion of
Com. Patterson, that the Planning.Commission grant a 50%
setback, front.yard; for Nellie C. Hager on Lot 21, Block 4,
Section 5, Balboa Island be put in the form of a. resolution.
Com. Patterson made a motion that the minutes be approved as
corrected; seconded by Com. Estus. Motion carried -So ordered.
Com. Patterson made a motion that the minutes of
April 7th be approved as written. Com. Estus seconded. Mo
tion carried and so ordered.

on Lot 3, Block A- 33,Corona Del Mar.
The Secretary advised that plans had been posted, hearing
advertised and notice sent to 18 surrounding property owners
notifying them of the date of hearing. No written protests
having been received and no one present protesting this ap-
plication, Com. Patterson moved the adoption of Resolution
No. -184 recommending that a 50% reduction in rear yard re-
ouirements be granted to Gladys Foster on Lot 3, Block A -33,
Corona Del Mar and that the same be transmitted to the City
Council by the Secretary as the recommendation of this com-
mission and a copy be filed as part of the record. Seconded!
by Com. Estus. The Chairman called for a Roll Call vote.

boa Yacht Club for:

BALBOA YACHT .The Secretary advised that plans had been posted and hear -
CLUB ing advertised, Chairman Johnson called for comments from
any persons interested. There being no protests forthcoming
'and no written protests received,.Com. Estus made a motion
that the Commission adopt a Resolution, No. 185, recommend-
ing that the Yacht Club be granted a variance within 5' of
Bayside Drive and include a permit to maintain and operate
a Yacht Club and that the same be transmitted to the City
Council by the.Secretary as the recommendation of this com-
mission and a copy be filed as part of the record. Seconded
by Com. Patterson. Chairman Johnson.called fora Roll Call

Com Patterson made a motion that the meeting ad-
journ. Seconded by Com. Estus. Motion carried and so ordered.
