Commissioners Absent: Reed MINT'TES: The meeting of March 15, 1956 approved on motion of Comm. Rudd, seconded by Comm. Hayton, and carried subject to the following change: Roll call vote on VARIANCE # 282 AYES : Reed, Longmoor, Copelin, Keene NO . BriEgs, Rudd, Hayton RESUBPIVISIONS 29 1. Smith, L.J., Balboa Blvd., & "P" Street, Balboa 2. Lot 3, Sec. 2, Eastside Addition, Balboa Tract, Zone R -3 3. Posted 2 -1 -56 Approved at March 15, 1956 meeting. (note below) 4. Applicant proposes to subdivide said lot into three (3) lots, each being 45' wide by 102.86 in depth. Each lot will contain 4590 square feet. 5. To develop the property in accordance with its highest and best use by making three (3) separate suitable R -3 building sites; 6. This application was referred back to the Planning Commission due to a misunderstanding of previous decision. (March 15, 1956) 7. Application was clarified and may be subdivided into 3 lots subject to the following conditions: 1. That a 5' front yard setback be established. 2. That a 201 easement across the rear of the subject three subdivided lots be established. 3. That each of the three property lots be restricted to an R =1 Zone. 4. Building site does not have parking spaces; however a public parking lot is available across the street. 6. Discussion: Note findings. 7. Inasmuch as the subject property did not have space for off- street parking, it was felt that the application should be denied. 8. Motion made by Commissioner Copelin , seconded by Comm. Submitted to the Commission was a Petition signed by 36 residents of Margaret Drive & La Perle Place requesting that these two streets be known as "Margaret Drive" only. Motion made by Commissioner Hayton that Petition be referred to the City Engineer for recommendation & approval, seconded by Comm. Smith and carried by the following roll call vote: ALL AYES . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The Chairman of the Commission presented a letter dated April 17, 1956 signed by K.C.,Tanis, 1530 Miramar Drive, Balboa, California addressed to the Planning Commission which requested permission to establish a business at 504 30th Street. The Commission held by unanimous vote that the business described by Mr. Tanis would fall under Section 9103.73 "Uses Prohibited" of ♦ Ordinance # 635. .................... The Chairman of the Commission presented a letter dated April 17, 1956 signed by Larry Wise, Hahn.1fise and Associates, Planning Consultants, in which he suggested an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance in reference to cornices, eaves, canopies, marquees etc. .(Section 9105.h) It was recommended that this matter be held over for farther study. u Page - 12 Business at hand being declared completed, the Commission meeting was adjourned on motion of Comm.
