FIEST FORMAL PUBLIC HEARING ON ZONING MAP.
The Planning Commission of the City of Newport
• . Beach met in special session at the City Hall,
at 7 P. M., Friday, April 20, 1928.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Sloan, Greeley, Williamson,
Thompson, Johnson and Briggs.
Mr. Gordon Whitnall and his associates, Dr.
C. Aronovici and. Mr. Rollin L. MCNitt were also
present.
The minutes of the meetings of April 2nd and
April 6th were read and approved.
Regular business was postponed to allow Isir.
Whitnall to present the first draft of the
zoning map.
Mr. Prhitnall preceded the discussion of the map
with a general talk on planning and zoning.
This being the first public hearing on the pro-
posed zoning map and planning ordinance, several
• property owners present expressed opinions in
regard to different districts and. Mr. Whitnall
replied that this plan was purely tentative and
would be left in the City Hall for two weeks
to give everyone an opportunity to study it and
submit suggestions in writing in regard to changes
An informal meeting was set for April 24, 19280
at 7:30 P. N,. at the Palisades Club to discuss
the problems peculiar to Corona del Mar.
Mr. Whitnall extended an invitation to all City
Officials to attend the opening of the new City
Hall in Los Angeles,
In regard to the request of Harry Welch for a
temporary lease of two hundred feet of frontage
on the County Channel, Mr. Thompson moved that
the Commission return the communication to the
City Council without action as this matter is
without the jurisdiction of the Planning Commission.
Mr, Sloan seconded this motion and it was carried.
