MEMBERS PRESEFT: Briggs, Sloan, Greeley, Fenelon, Patterson, Johnson, 'Xilliamson." Reading of minutes of previous meeting dispensed with. Meeting called to order by Chairman Briggs Mr. C. 19. Strayer objected to the proposed zoning of Block 218, Section "B ", Newport Beach and a motion was offered by Mr. 7.71lliamson, seconded by Fenelon and carried that the Commission recommend the .in- clusion of Lots 1 to 18, being a portion of Block. 218, North of the alley known as Villele Place in the Industrial Zone. A communication was received snonsore "d by A. E. Dixson requesting that Black 120 of the lst Addition to Newport Beach be zoned as business. Upon motion by Mayor Johnson, seconded by Fenelon and carried the Commission recommends this change. Mr. H. Bay 1:`ebster objected to his property, near the Union Oil Dock on Balboa Island, being zoned against business and upon 'motion duly carried the Commission reco= ends that his object be recognized. Block 3 of the Fast Newport Tract was discussed and on account of it being zoned by Deed to business purposes and the establishment of several business uses in the Block, it is recommended that Block 3 be zoned for business. Miss Logue spoke regarding the zoning of a strip bounded by Island and Niontero iLvenue, the Bay and the Ocean, being designated as business property. No recommendation was offered on this request. - Dr. Herman Hilmer spoke in regard to Balboa Island and Corona del Mar and 'requested information regard - 40 ing the difference between the definition of a single family residence and a use which contemplates a garage apartment. Mr. Lucas of Corona del Mar mentioned that ninety per cent of that area should be zoned for single. r residence use with a special section for multiple dwellings. He reported that the vest side of Yargue -rite Avenue was originally sold for business uses but in his opinion is more valuable for other • uses, Par. Davis of Corona del I,'ar requested that his property be zoned for multiple dwellings. I;'.r. Davist property is in Block 132 of the re -Sub of Corona del Mar, facing on Fernleaf Avenue. ➢ir. Clifton Platt of Corona del Ia:ar favors a multiple dwelling zone on the North side of Pacific Drive. Mr. Bowman stated that lie represented T.Tr. Sparr and objected to single residence only in the area below the bluff. Mr. FI. I +. Lane spoke rea;arcing Block 236 and 336 of. the Lake Tract, stating that he had oil wells drilling on these blocks and did not wish to be zoned against that use until. he was satisfied that his test wells were either successful or unsuccessful I40 The Bathing Pool was mentioned with a request that vie recommend. that it be improved for. children and the information it is located on private pronert Stephen Townsend Conpany.
