On motion of Commissioner Copelin, seconded by Co®is- sioner Marshall and carried, a public hearing was set for June 16, 1960 to consider the rezoning of Tract 3763 located easterly of Irvine Avenue and north- Motion x easterly of Highland Drive in the Back Bay area from Second x an Unclassified to an R -1 -B District. All Ayes 2. On motion of Commissioner Copelin, seconded by Commis- sioner Clemente, and carried, a public hearing was set for June 16, 1960 to consider the rezoning of Tract 3201 (industrial tract located between Acacia and Motion x Birch Streets and Palisades Road and Mac Arthur Blvd.) Second x from an Unclassified to an M -1 -A District. All Ayes 3. The Commission considered establishing a name for a street which enters Newport Blvd. in the .proximity of Short Street and 35th Street. On motion of Commis- sioner Clemente, seconded by Commissioner Marshall, Motion x and carried, it was recommended that the street be Second x named "Short Street ". All Ayes • 4. The Public. Works Director Asked the Planning Commission as to whether it intended by its conditions imposed on Resubdivision 96, approved July 2, 1959, to permit a retaining wall to be constructed 8' in from the edge of the 30' right -of -way easement. The Commission stated that it did not intend to permit the construction of a retaining wall within the,right- of -way and that any such retaining wall would have to Motion x be constructed at the edge of the 30' right -of -way Second x easement. The Department of Building and Safety requested an. interpretation as to whether the housing for a swimming pool pump, filter or heater, or any combination thereof would constitute an accessory building. Russell, Superintendent, Newport Harbor Union High School District requesting approval of the proposed site for the Third High School. On motion of Commissioner Copelin, seconded by Commis- sioner Hudson, and carried, the proposed site was Motion x approved in accordance with Section '15004 of the State Second x of California Education Code. All Ayes 2. A letter addressed to the, Planning Commission, dated May 25, 1960 and signed by Mrs. B. Pretorious, Mrs. A. Malm and Richard A.'Barron protesting the granting of Use Permit Ho. 615 to the.Pirst Baptist Church was Motion x ordered filed and a copy thereof was transmitted to Second x the City Clerk.
