M., July 10, 1928, Tuesday, Present: Briggs, Fenelon, Sloan, Johnson, Williamson,` Greeley, Patterson. Consultants - Gordon Whitnall Rollin McNitt Tom Cooke Mr. Whitnall and Mr. Cooke presented and explained the Zoning Map and the Major Traffic Street Plan. The Zoning Map was gone over block by block and referred back to the consultants for corrections. Mr. Culp was Heard. The Newport Refining Company was discussed at some length. The Zoning of that property along the North side • of the County Channel owned by the La Habra Valley Land and Water Company was discussed. The Commission concluded to leave it in "A" 7ohe until it is subdivided. The use anticipated for this land at the time the Channel was dredged was discussed, Mr. Mize, represented the La Habra Valley Land and Water Company and presented -a tentative map of a relocation plan of streets on a portion of Newport Heights which was well received, The Ocean Front South of Surf Avenue and Ocean Avenue was placed in "A" Zone except for 2 blocks at 15th Street. The Newport Harbor Yacht Club property, the Southern Seas Club property and the whole block wherein it is contained were ordered zoned for Club or Hotel usage, The Peninsula °from "B" Street East was recommended for "A" Zone. The members present were Briggs, Greeley, Sloan, Johnson, Patterson, McNitt, Whitnall The minutes of the meeting of July 10, were read and approved as read. A bill in the amount of 03.40 from Paul Kressly for maps was Approved on motion of Johnson, seconded by Greeley and carried. A letter of inquiry from Hal Will Smith was read and considered. A letter from Marion Cooper was read and filed as subject matter had already been considered.` Mr. McNitt explained the advisability of an amend- ment to the present ordinance creating the planning Commission. He also read the draft of the amended ordinance. • A motion was offered by Mr. Greeley seconded by Sloan and carried that an ordinance amending ordin- ance No. 247 conforming the Planning Commission to the new planning act be recommended to the City Council. i \.. `_ __,CX.1 -J '�c!;�:1:(.0 -.mil✓ Secretary
