HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/25/19341 July 25th I9349 At a Special Meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Newport Beach the following members were present.Geo.P.Wilson,B.I.Moere, Hal Will Smith and F.C.Brookings In addition to the members of the Commission we were favored witk the presence of ih Mr Tilton, Councilman,Ellawortk,Garfield and Mayor Hilmer and many other representative citizens including Harry Welch Secretary of Chamber of Commerce,George RoGers,Louis W.Briggs,', And Mir Kirby. Mr Tilton main brought to the meeting the `experience of his many years in planning activities streessing the main factors in &well planned community. which are as follows, I. Streets that should carry the main flow of ` traffic.j residential streets which would require less width and use, right kind and in the right place. 2. Transportation; Railroads, street Car lines and all other means of travel. 3. Recreation; Play Grounds well locatea as well as parks . 4Proper Zoning to protect property interests and.natura:l growth of the city. Beautification and the aj.pearance of the City. Mr George Rogers spoke relative to the natural advantages of this coimunity- laying emphasis on possibilities of our bay and residential section for hone. owners. Also advocating County park along upper bay & Corona Del -'11ar and parking _ around the bay and Ocean Front. L.W. Briggs, also spoke as to the future of the Community and stre.esed that we should retain Mr T Tilton and coordinate all groups in general movement to help in future ply -nning and activities. Harry Welch suetested that any plane brought fort should be sold to different groups in different srctions of the community and:then by this mediuk create interest in the general public as totheir final approval. Mr Kirby our 'local architect offered his coonerat ion in the efforts the Corsxissi_on was making to advance the general advancement of our city.
