TBB NEWPORT BEACH CITY PLANAING COMMISSION met in $pedal adyiourns session August 11, 1938
at 10 a.m, in the Engineer's office, City Hall; Chairman Hopkins presiding.
HALL CALL -
Commissioners present: Hopkins, $eager, Briggs, Williams, Patterson.

Com.Veager moped that the motions approving the reconstruction of the Newport pier and
the elimination of the lighting in the Newport area be recinded and stricken from the record.
Seconded by Com.Briggs. Motion carried.
PHOPOSO MUNICIPAL IMPBOVEM NTS, All CONSTITUTING A CITY PLAN.
Secretary read the following items for consideration of the commission as thome to be
included in the group of municipal improvements constituting a city plan.
(A) The acquisition and construction of a public improvement, to -wits
The acquisition and construction of a groupadbuildings, including equipment
of same on one parcel of land, including therein a city hall, fire station, police
station and jail, and construction of streets, walks and other work incidental thereto,
and the acquisition of rights of way and lands necessary or convenient for the use of
said buildings. All of said buildings to be used for public purposes. Said project
140112 to cost approximately $%,000.
Com.Seager moved that item A be approved with the exoeption that the words *fire station"
be eliminated. Seconded by Com.Williams. Notion carried and so ordered.
(B) The acquisition and construction of a public improvement, to -wit:
Additions to municipal water system, including therein fire protection, mains
and hydrants, water works, areattens tanks, pumping plants and the acquisition of
buildings and lands necessary or convenient to said project. Said project to cost
approximately $141,819.

Com.Briggs moved that this item (B) be approved as written. Seconded by Com.$sager. Motion
carried and so ordered.
(C) The acquisition and construction of a public improvement, to -wit:
Additions to municipal motor system, including therein construction and
reconstruction of sanitary sewers. underground pumping stations, including therein
the acquisition of lands and rights of way, and other work incidental thereto.
Koticn Said project to Goat approximately $127,273.

Cem. Seeger moved that item N be approved as written. Seconded by Com.Briggs. Motion carried
and so ordered.
(D) The acquisition and construction of a public improvement, to -wit:
The construction and reconstruction of a public wharf at Balboa, a public
wharf at Corona del Mar, and a public pier at Newport Beach, including therein the
acquisition of lands and rights of way, and other works incidental thereto.
Said project to cost approximately $106,600.

of a public pier at Newport Beach! Approximate cost $25,000. Seconded by Com. Briggs.
Motion carried and so orders&
(E) The acquisition and construction of a public improvement, to -wit:
The acquisition of lands to be used for public park purposes, automobile
parking areas, she improving and beautifying of same, including the er4otion and con-
struction of rest rooms and other public buildings, to be used for public purposes.
The lands so to be acquired are located on the Ocean /Front between Adams and "B" ate.
Motion in Balh", City of Newport Beach, Said project to cost approximately $55,000.
Cem.Seagmr moved that item E be approved as written. Seconded by Com. Brigge. Motion
carried and so ordered.
(F) The acquisition and construction of a public improvement, to -wits
The acquisition of a public street along the Ocean Front between Adams
and "B* streets, and the paving, curbing and protection thereof from the waters of the
Pacific Ocean, including therein the acquisition of lands and rights of way, and other
work incidental thereto. Said project to cost approximately $1110,000.
Motion
Com.Seager moved that item F be approved as written. Seconded by Com.1illiams. Motion
carried and so ordered.
(Q) The acquisition and construction of a public improvement, to -wit:
The construction of a building for public uses in Corona del Mar, in-
cluding therein a building to be used for recreational purposes and public meetings
and play grounds, showers, lockers and equipment, including the acquisition of
lands and rights of way, and other works incidental thereto. Said project to Go
approximately $34,000.

Com.Seager moved that item G be approved as written. Seconded by Com.Willisms. Motion
carried and so ordered.
(1) The acquisition and construction of a public improvement, to-wit:
She construction and reconstruction of a lighting system in the
Newport area and West Newport district including therein light posts, conduit, wiring,
lighting fixtures, and other works necessary or incidental thereto.
Said project to cost approximately. ¢28,500.
N on Com.Brigge moved that this item be eliminated from the plan. Seconded by Com.Pattsrson.
Motion carried and so ordered.
Com.Seager moved that the items as separately approved be the items to be included
in a proposed plan for mumtcipal Improvement as constituting a city plan and that the some
be sent to hearing (public) and advertised for public hearing , first hearing to be held
on August 17th and second hearing on August 24th, 1935. Seconded by Com.Briggs.

Ayes: Hopkins, Seager, Briggs, Williams, Briggs Patterson,
Boss: Nome.
Motion carried and so or&6ed by the Chairman.

Coin. Williams moved that the minutes of this meeting be submitted to the City
Attorney to make sure that they are legally correct. Seconded by Com.Briggs. Motion oarriot
Before the meeting, Com. Unger, as instructed at the meeting held Aug. 10,
presented each member with a typewritten copy of the itemised list of projects and their
approximate costs. (Copy attached to these minutes)
