The Planning Commission considered Building Department memorandum dated September 5, 1962 signed by Don Range, Assistant Civil Engineer, pertaining to swimming pools, and after considerable discussion advised Mr. Range, who was present in the audience, that it was the interpreta- tion of the Commission that any diving platform, diving board or railings appurtenant to swimming pools be not over 6' in height in any required side or rear yard setback. • The Commission further stated that setbacks for swimming Motion x pools in side and rear yards was established as 5' in Second x all residential districts. Second All Ayes 3. A request dated September 29, 1962 from Dr. Ralph D. Anderson to provide two off -site parking spaces for a motel located at 6030 W. Coast Highway, Newport Beach, was'recommended to the City Council for approval,:subjec to the following conditions: 1. That all requirements of Section 9104.21, Motion Planning and Zoning Regulations, regarding Second off -site parking spaces be complied with. All Ayes 2. That the two off -site parking spaces be not approved if they reduce the number of required parking spaces for the Surf and Sirloin Restaurant located at 5930 West Coast Highway, Newport Beach, California. REFERRALS COCIL 1. The Commission took the following action on a request dated August 15, 1962 from S. A. October 18, 1962 at 8 :00 P.M., in the City Council Chambers was set as the date, time and place to consider the rezoning of City owned property paralleling Newport Blvd between 26th and 28th Streets, Newport Beach, from an Motion Unclassified to a C -1 District. The Planning Commission considered a memorandum from the Assistant Public Works Director pertaining to street name changes and made the following recommendations to • the City Council. 1. That the name of Bonita Lane, between Mariners Drive and the southerly boundary of Tract No. 3004, be changed to Dorothy Lane. 2. That the name of Bayside Drive on the easterly Page 2.
