HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/18/194863 The Newport Beach City Planning Commission held a regular meeting, Thurs- day, November 189 1948, with Chairman Lonmoor presiding. Commissioners present: Copelin, Daniell, Johnson, Longmoor, Rudd, Wightman ROLL CALL Commissioners absent: Baltz, Ellerbroek, and Pleger. Final hearing was called upon the matter of the application of Dr. R. R. PUBLIC HEARINGS Hansen and D „. H. A. LeVantine for a change of zone classification from R -3 to 0-2 for Lots 16, 18, 20, 222 Block 732, Corona del Mar. Committee reiort by Commissioner Beltz was not fiven due to his absence, and also that of Commissioner Ellerbroek, and also, neither D.. "ansen nor De. LeBantine were present. Secretary Copelin reported that he bar reeeived a telephone protest from Mr. Joh: Mack, owner of dots 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, and 21, Block 732, and that he would contact r. Mack, for verification of this portest in writing, for the records. 'Commissioner Johnson made the motion seconded by Commissi,^,ner Rudd that this application be tabled to the next regular meeting for final action. Motion carried and so ordered. Hearing upon the application of !�r. James H. Roberts, for a 50% setback variance on Carnation Avenue, Corona Del Mar, for his property, an irregu- lar lot, bordered southwesterly by the harbor and southeasterly by Carna- tion Avenue, same being in Block "D ", was declared, same having been duly filed and advertised. After discussion and consideration, Commissioner Daniell madd the motion, seconded by Commissioner Copelin for closing the hearing, which carried and Commissioner Daniell then made the motion, sec- onded by Commissioner 6opelin that the Commission recommend the granting of., the application, which carried by the following roll call vote, AYES: Copelin Daniell, Johnson, Longmoor, Rudd and Wightman. NOES: None. ABSENT: Baltz, Ellerbroek and Pleger. First hearing upon the matter of an amendment to Ordinance No. 525, regulat- ing parking in '�-1 and C -2 zones, up to 1,000 feet from the proposed busi- ness site and other regulations, was called, some having been duly filed and advertised. After consideration and discussion, Secretary Copelin made the motion, seconded by Commissioner Rudd that the matter be s$t.to second hear- ing at the next,.regular meeting. Motion carried and so ordered. Mr. R. L. Crutcher, president of the Jennie S. Crutcher Voundation, Incorpor- NEW BUSINESS. ated, was present and presented and discussed the annexation of Tract 1237 to be known as "Corona Highlands", and for which the City Council has set a hearing on December 29 1948, for consideration of same. Plans and zoning, as proposed, were discussed informally by the Commission, anfl .agreement reached to advertise the matter of zoning for this property for December 2, 1948/ Commissioner Johnson made the motion for adjournment to December 2, 1948, for ADJOURNMENT an adjourned meeting, which was seconded by Commissioner Rudd and carried. The Newport Beach City Planning held an adjourned meeting on Thursday, Dec- ember 2, 1948, with Chairman Longmoor presiding. Commissioners present: Baltz, Copelin, Daniell, Ellerbroek, Johnson, Long - moor, Pleger, Rudd and Wightman. Commissioners absent: None. Commissioner Johnson made the motion, seconded by Commissioner Pleger for the approval of the minutes of the October 21, 1948, as corrected. Motion carried and so ordered. ADJOURNED MEETING ROLL CALL MINUTES Secretary Copelin real a communication from City Clerk Charles K. Priest COMMUNICATIONS which carried the reappointment of Mr. Ellerbroek to the Planning Commiss- ion for another term, by the City Council, upon motion of Councilman Robert- son, seconded by Councilman Isbell. 64 PUBLIC . First hearing was declared upon the matter of a proposed amendment to HEARINGS Ordinance No. 525, to add t e district of Tract 1237, to be known as Corona Highlanc.s, being a portion of Block 95, Irvine Subdivision as recorded in Book 1, page 88, Misc. Record daps, County of Orange, California, and, zone same as outlined in the ap:,lication of the Jen- nie S. Crutche- Foundation, Inc., and map of Tract 1237, on file with the Newport Beach City Planning Commission. Same having been duly filed and advertised, however, Chairman Longmoor explained that this hearing was ,a courtesy to expedite matters for the Crutcher Foundation. Commissioner Pleger made the moti'on, seconded by Commissioner Rudd that the hearing be set to final hearing at the next meeting, on Dec- ember 16, 1948. notion carried and so ordered. NEW BUSINESS Mir. FTalter Geldert was present for discussion of the possibilities of a 50% setback variance for his property of Lot 9, Block A, Tract 673, Corona ca el "Ear, and was instructed to file for a hearing. Commissioner Pleger stated that he had checked this property and felt that no other property would be injured if Per. Geldert were granted a 50% variance, which both Commissioners Baltz and Mr. Nelson concurred with.
