MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING FOR THURSDAY, DECEMBER. 21st,.l
ROLL Commissioners Present: Copelin, Ellerbroek, Longmoor, Reed, and Rudd. '
CALL; Commissioners Absent: Briggs, Pleger, Smith, and Wightman.
MINUTES: Commissioner Rudd made a motion to approve the minutes of the Planning
Commission meeting of November 16th, 1950, as submitted to the Commission,
seconded by Commissioner Read and carried.
PUBLIC Re- zoning - 1st Hearing: Application of E. Morris Smith for the. re- zoning of
HEARINGS: Lots 1 and 3. Block 436, Corona del Mar from its present R -2 to a C -1 zone
classification. There was considerable discussion amongst the commissioners
and Mr. Wise, the planning consultant, as to what the best possible zoning would
be for the above described property. Chairman Longmoor suggested that the 'first
hearing be closed, and that in the meantime, they will take another look at the
property.
Commissioner Copelin made a motion that the first hearing be closed,.seconded by
Commissioner Reed and carried.
Commissioner Copelin then moved that this hearing be set over to the next regular
meeting, seconded by Commissioner Rudd, and carried.
Re- 'subdivision - Application of Walter S. MoEachern for a re- subdivision on
Lots 3 and 4. Block 349 Re -sub of Corona del Mar to create a third building site.
The Commissioners studied the plans that were submitted. South side will be front
part of lots -- facing the Ocean.
After much discussion with Mr. McEachern and Mr. Cleland, it was decided that it

might be best to wait and make application under the new ordinance which only calls
for 4,000 square feet for a building site in property above a twenty (20) foot
sea level. Under the present ordinance, it would require 6,000 square feet which
the properties do not have.
Commissioner Copelin made a motion to close the hearing, seconded by Commissioner
Ellerbroek, and carried.
Commissioner Reed then made a motion that the matter be laid on the table for further
consideration by the Commission, seconded by Commissioner Rudd and carried.
Commissioner Rudd then made a motion that the matter be laid over for further con-
sideration, seconded by Commissioner Reed and carried.
COMMUNI- Sebretary'Cdpelin. ,read a letter to the Commission from Thomas E Heffernan, Attorney
•CATIONS:at Law, regarding the property of Paul Swan, Lot 5, Block, 5, Section 5, Balboa
Island, x'208 Crystal Avenue). This matter was discussed at the November 16th meet-
ing also, and since it was decided that there was nothing that the Commission could
do relative to Mr. Swan's property, Commissioner Rudd made a motion that the letter
be filed, seconded by Commissioner Reed and carried.
ADJOURN- There being no further business, Commissioner Reed made the motion for adjourn -
MENT: ment, seconded by Commissioner Rudd and carried.
