PUBLIC COMMENTS: None REQUEST FOR CONTINUANCES: None PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS SUBJECT: Zoning Code Update (PA2009 -034) ITEM NO. 1 PA2009 -034 The City of Newport Beach is considering a comprehensive update of the Zoning Code for the purpose of implementing the 2006 update Continued to of the General Plan. The Zoning Code is a regulatory document that June 17, implements many General Plan polices related to land use and 2010 development. Jim Campbell, Principal Planner, made a presentation focusing on Part 2 and Part 4 of the Draft Zoning Code. Public comment was opened. Comments were given by the following: Allan Beek, 2007 Highland Drive Wayne Inouye, property owner on Heliotrope Karen Tringali, 512 Cameo Highlands Drive Marilyn Beck, 303 Carnation Avenue Phil Coin, property owner on Poinsettia Craig Morressette, property owner on Peninsula NEWPORT BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES 06/15/2010 Public comment was closed. Note: Text in (Italics) represents Planning Commission majority straw vote on change(s) to Zoning Code text proposed at this meeting. At the conclusion of the final Planning Commission hearing on the Zoning Code, all such changes will be included for final recommendations by the Planning Commission. • Pg 2 -21, Section 20.20.020 - add Emergency Shelters permitted by right to OA zoning district under Service Uses - General 6:39:30 • Pg. 4 -7 Section 20.48.030 C.3. - add "e° an additional item, indicating that the proposed amendment will be reviewed to determine if it will resolve any current objectionable conditions • Pg. 4 -7, Section 20.48.030 C.4. d. — strike "lapse" and insert "expire" • Pg. 4 -16, Section 20.48.090 D. — indicate that this section applies to all Eating and Drinking, including Late Hours • Pg. 4 -17, Section 20.48.090 F.2 — in the first sentence add "including bars, lounges and nightclubs" • Pg. 4 -22, Section 20.48.130 E — revise reference to Chapter 10 to reference "Title 10 of the Municipal Code, as may be amended form time to time" • Pg. 4 -35, Section 20.48.210 — add entry for fuel tank vents and require that they be located at the rear of the property or other inconspicuous location and screened from public view Motion made by Commissioner McDaniel, seconded by Commissioner Peotter, after debate, to adjourn meeting and continue this item to regular Planning Commission meeting on June 17, 2010.
