NEWPORT BEACH, BY THE
BOARD OF TRUSTEES THEREOF,
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO
ORDER AN IMPROVEMENT TO
BE MADE IN SAID CITY, BRIEF.
LY DESCRIBING THE IMPROVE.

DESCRIBING A DISTRICT TO BE
BENEFITED BY THE IMPROVE.

The Board of Trustees of the city of
Newport Beach do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1.
The public interest and convenience
requires an improvement to be made
In the city of Newport Beach, and
r- the Board of Trustees of said city
hereby declare its Intention to order
said Improvement to be made, and
' which is briefly described as follows:
a. That both of the ends of the
alley which extends easterly and west-
erly in Block 4 of East Newport, be
widened by curving the southerly
line of said alley at the ends thereof
southerly and the northerly line at!
the ends thereof northerly, the said
curves to commence on the respective
southerly and northerly lines of the
alley twenty feet (20 ft.) from the
ends of the alley and the radius of
the curve shall be 20 ft.
b. That both of the ends of the
alley which extends easterly and
westerly in Block 5 of East Newport
be widened by curving the southerly
line of said alley at the ends thereof
southerly, and the northerly line at
the ends thereof northerly the said
curves to commence on the respective
southerly and northerly lines of the.
alley twenty feet from the ends of the,

said alley at the ends thereof north-

The said alleys and the parts there-
of to be widened are set forth and
delineated upon a plan prepared by
the Engineer of the city of Newport i
Beach, and now on file In his office,
which plan Is hereby adopted and ap -'
proved as the plan for said improve-
ment and reference thereto Is hereby
made for further particulars.
SECTION 2.
It Is necessary to take land for and

SECTION 3.
A district will be benefltted by the
widening of said alleys, as hereinbe-
fore described, and the district which
will be benefltted and which district
the Board of Trustees of the city of
Newport Beach hereby declare will
be benefltted thereby, and which
should be and will be assessed to pay
the expenses of the widening of said
alleys, to be known as the assessment
district, Is located In the city of
Newport Beach, County of Orange,
State of California, being Assess-
ment District No. 2, and described as
follows:
Beginning at the northeasterly cor-
ner of Lot 1, Block 11 of a Map of
East Newport, as recorded In Miscel-
laneous Maps, Book 3, page 37, Re-
cords of Orange County, California;
thence westerly in a direct line to the
northeasterly corner of Lot 5, Block
9, of the aforesaid Map of East New-
port; thence northerly In a direct fir
to the northeasterly corner of Lot I,
Block 4, of the aforesaid Map of
East Newport; thence westerly In a
direct line to the northwesterly corner
of Lo't' 14, Block 5, of the aforesaid
Map of East Newport; thence South-
erly In a direct line to the southwest-
erly corner of Lot 18, of the aforesaid
Block 5; thence southwesterly in a
direct line to the northeasterly cor-
ner of Lot 1, Block 7, of the afore-

A map which indicates by a bound-
ary line thereon, colored red, the ex-
tent of the territory to be Included and
which Is included in said assessment
district, has been prepared by the
Engineer of the city of Newport
Beach, and is now on file In his office,
and which map is hereby approved
and referred to as the map of the as-
sessment district, and shall govern

SECTION 4.
The proceedings taken by this Or-
dinance of Intention and to be ta-
ken in the widening of the described

of an Act of the Legislature of the
State of California, entitled: "Ar

SECTION 5.
The Street Superintendent of the
city of Newport Beach shall cause to
be posted and published the notices at
the places, for the time, and In the
manner and form required of him
by said act, and the Clerk of the city
of Newport Beach shall mall, at the
time, to the persons, and In the
manner and form the post cards re -)
quired of him by said Act.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING
THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY OWN-
ED BY THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH BE USED FOR STREET
PURPOSES, DESIGNATING THE
NAME BY WHICH SAID STREET,
SHALL BE KNOWN AND CALL-1
ED, AND CHANGING THE NAMES
OF CERTAIN STREETS, 01) ES
TABLISHING THE GRADES AND
CURB LINES OF CERTAIN
STREETS 'WITHIN SAID CITY.
The Board of Trustees of the City
of Newport Beach do ordain as fol-
lows:
SECTION I. That that certain
piece or parcel of land heretofore
deeded to the City of Newport Beach,
by the Southern Pacific Railway
Company, lying between the westerly
line of 21st Street, and the Easterly
line of Coast Boulevard, and extend-
ing from a line, which line is 47.751
feet southwesterly of and parallel
with the center line of the Pacific
Electric Railway Company's right of
way, to the southeasterly prolongs
tion of the northeasterly line of that
part of Ocean Avenue lying north-
westerly of Coast Boulevard, Is here-
by declared to be an open public
street of the City.of Newport Beach,
and the name by which said Street
shall be known and called is hereby
declared to be "Me Fadden Place"
SECTION II. That certain public
street heretofore commonly known
and called Coast Boulevard from the
southeasterly line of 23rd Street to
the southeasterly prolongation of the
northeasterly line of that part o�
Ocean Avenue lying northwesterly of
said Coast Boulevard, is hereby chang-
ed, and shall hereafter be known and
designated as "McFadden Place:
SECTION III. That certain public i
street heretofore commonly known as
21st Street, from the northeasterly
line of Central Avenue (North Drive),
to Bay Avenue, is hereby changed and
will hereafter be known and desig-
nated as "McFadden Place."
SECTION IV. The official grades of
certain portions of McFadden Place,
which in the Street described and
named In Sections 1, 2 and 3 hereof;
and of Slat Street from the northeast-
erly line of Central Avenue (South
Drive), to the southwesterly line of
Central Avenue North Drive); and
23rd. Street from the Westerly lines Er
Central Avenue to the easterly line of
Coast Boulevard are hereby estab-
lished to conform to the elevations
and grades therefor shown upon Plan
No. 299, adopted -by the Board of Trus-
tees of the City of Newport Beach by
Resolution No. 287, and on file in
the office of the City Clerk of said
City, and the curb lines of the here -
�inbefore mentioned portions of
streets are hereby fixed and establish-
ed at the locations shown upon the
hereinbefore mentioned Plan No. 299.
SECTION V. The City Clerk shall
certify to the passage of this Or-
dinance and cause the same to be
Published by one Insertion in the
Newport News, a weekly newspaper

said City, and hereby designate3 for
that purpose. ..
