The Board of Trustees of the
city of Newport Beach do ordain
as follows:
SECTION 1.
A bill board for the purposes of
this ordinance is defined to be a
structure erected and standing at
a fixed place constructed for the
purpose of displaying thereon, by
means of paint. paper, or other
substance, advertising of any
character or for any purpose, not
constructed upon any building.
SECTION 2.
No bill board sball be here-
after constructed or maintained in
the city of Newport Beach. the
height of which, or the highest line
l of which sball exceed six feet
from the natural surface of the
earth at the place where said bill
board i3 erected and maintained.
SECTION 3.
No bill board stall be hereafter
constructed or maintained in the
city of Newport Beach on any
,Property owned by the city or
dedicated to the city of Newport
Beach for public purposes. No bill
board stall be hereafter construct.

l SECTION 4.
Every bill board bereafter con -t

constitute a nuisance and sball be
immediately removed upon de- "
mand of the city marshal of the
city of Newport Beach, and it not
so removed by the owner or per -,
son in possession thereof it shall
he the duty of the Marshal of the I
city of Newport Beach to summar-
ily and immediately lake the said
hill board down.
SECTION 6.
Every person, including the own-
er, agent, servant or employe, whop
shall in the city of Newport Beach
hereafter construct or attempt lol
. construct in the city of Newport
Beach any bill board of a height
or at a place not in conform try
with the provisions of this ordin-
ance shall b eguilty of a misde-
meanor and Upon conviction there-
of in a court of competent juris-
diction shall be punished by a fine
not exceediug $250.00, or by ino-
J prisoumeut in the city jail not
j exceeding thirty days, or by both
such fine and imprisonment in the
digoreliou of the court.

city of Newport Beach, and it shall
take effect and he in force from
and after its passage.
The above and foregoing Ordin-

duced before the Board of Trustees
Of the city of Newport' Beach at a
regular meeting thereof held the
22nd day of February, 1926. and
passed at a regular meeting there-
of held the 8th day of March, 1926,
by the affirmative vote of the fol-
lowing named members of said
Board of Trustees, to -wit:
Ayes, Trustees — WILSON. SLOAN,
YOUNG. RICHTER. WILKINSON.
Foes. Trustees —NONE.
Absent. Trustees —NONE.
The above and foregoing Ordin-
ance No. 294 is hereby approved by
me this 8th day of March, 1926.

TION TO THE ELECTORS
THEREOF,
The Board of Trustees of the "

as follows:
SECTION 1.
At the general municipal elce-
