AMENDMENT TO ORDINANCE NO. 304 OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH, BEING AN ORDINANCE LICENSING AND
REGULATING THE CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF
OUTDOOR ADVERTISING STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF
NE.7PORT BEACH.
The City of Nernort Beach, by and through its City
Council, does ordain as follows, to -wit:
Section 1.
Ordinance No. 304 of the City of Nf,vn)ort Beach is hereby
amended by adding; new sections thereto to be known as Sections
1 -a and 2 -a, and to read as follows:
Section 1 -a. The semi - business district shall consist
of and inolrrde all lots and parcels of land fronting on both
sides of the same street within any block wherein more than
fifty percent of the oceiipied frontage on both sides of said
street within such block is occupied by buildings, establishments
or space devoted to or utilised for business or industrial pur-
poses other than the space in said block occupied or utilised
for advertising structures as that term is defined in this
ordinance.
For the purpose of this section the term "Block" is
defined to mean that portion of a business or industrial street
between two oross- streets which intersect one or both side lines
thereof; provided that in oases where a oross- street interesots
only one line of such business or industrial street, a straight
line joining the center line of the terminating oross- street
at its terminus with the nearest point on the opposite side of
said street shall limit the block on the other side of the
street.

2 thoroughfares excepting alleys.
3 Section 2 -a. No person shill ereot, oonstruot or
4 maintain any advertising; struotures as that term is defined
5 in this ordinance, within the corporate limits of the City of
6 IlNewport Beach, except in a semi - business district as defined in
7 11 section 1 -a of this ordinanoe.
8 Section 2. This ordinance shall be printed and
9 published once in NEe'VPORT NEWTS, a newspaper printed, published
10 and circulated in the City of Newport Beach, and shall take
11 effect and be in force thirty (30) days after its passage.
