ORDINANCE NO. 509
The. City of Newport Beach, by
and through" its City Council, does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. It is hereby declar-
ed unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to operate or run,
or cause to be operated or run, a
vehicle, motor vehicle, truck trac-
tor, farm tractor, mad tractor, mo-
torcycle, or commercial vehicle of
any description, as these vehicles
have been defined by the Califor-
nia Vehicle Code, In or upon thR
public sidewalks of the City of
Newport Beach.
SECTION 2. It is hereby declar-
ed unlawful for any person to ride
or operate a bicycle upon the pub.
lic sidewalks of the City of New-
port Beach, except on the South
one -half (S %) of that certain pub-
lic sidewalk within the designated
painted and posted zone for bi-
cycles, located on the Ocean Front
between McFadden Place, and "F"
Street in the City of Newport
Beach.
SECTION 3. Any person violat.
ing any of the provisions of this
ordinance shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon con-
viction thereof shall be punished
by a fine not exceeding $25.00 or
by imprisonment in the City Jail
of the City of Newport Beach for
a period not exceeding five (5)
days, or by both such fine and
imprisonment.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall
be published once in the NEW-
PORT- BALBOA PRESS, a weekly
newspaper printed, published and
circulated In the City of Newport
Beach, and shall take effect" and
be in force thirty (30) days after
its passage.
I hereby certify that the forego-
ing ordinance was Introduced at a
regular meeting of the City Coun-
cil of the City of Newport Beach
held on the 13th day of March,
1942, and was finally passed and
adopted on the 0th day of April,
19429 by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach at a regu-
lar meeting thereof, by the follow-
ing vote, to -wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Reed,
Claire, Allen, Brown, Gordon.
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: None.
