The (it,, of Newport Beach,
by and through its City Council,
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: gection XI of Or-
dinance No. 537 is hereby amend-
ed to read as follows:
"On the deposit of a one
cent coin in said parking
meters, said one cent coin
shall permit the vehicle then
in the parking space opposite
said parking meter as afore-
said, to remain in said park-
ing s p a c e for a period of
twelve minutes; and on the
deposit of a five cent coin in
said parking meter, the same
shall authorize and permit
the vehicle then occupying
the space opposite said park-
ing meter as aforesaid, to oc-
cupy said space for the period
of one hour.
However, it shall be unlaw-
ful and constitute a misde-
meanor for any such vehicle
to remain in the parking
space heretofore mentioned in
this paragraph for a longer
period than prescribed by the
written time notice on said
parking meter, irrespective of
the amount of money so de-
posited in said p a r k i n g
meter."
SF.CT ON II: Any person, firm
or corporation violating the pro-
visions of this ordinance shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor and shall
be punished by a fine not to ex-
ceed $50.00, or by a jail sentence
in the City Jail of the City of
Newport Beach, for a period not
to eseeed ten days, or by both
such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION III: The above and
foregoing Ordinance No, 577 shall
be published once in the NEW,
PORT- BALBOA NEWS - TIMES,
a newspaper of general circulation
printed, published and circulated
in the City of Newport Beach, and
shall take effect and be in force
thirty days after its publication.
I hereby certify that the fore-
going Ordinance was introduced
at a regular meeting of the City
Co'mcil of the City of Newport
Beach held on the 10th day of
May, 1948, and was finally passed
and adopted on the 18th day of
Play. 1948, by the City Council
at a regular meeting thereof, by
the following roll call vote, to.
wit:
AYES, (Y)VNCILMEN: Greeley,
Isbell, Blue, Drake.
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None.
ACSIINT, COUNCILMEN: Rob-
ertson.
