ORDINANCE. NO. 614
ORDINANCE ADDING SEC-
TIONS 4231. 47.32 and 4233, TO
THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
T H F. CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH, PROHIBITING THE
DISCHARGE OF FHLEARMS
AND AIR -GUNS W I T H I N
THE CITY 010 NEWPORT
BEACH AND PROVIDING A
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION
THEREOF.
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does ordain as
follows: I
SECTION I: Sections 4231, 4232
and 4233 are herebv added to the
Municipal Code of t h e City of
Newport Beach, as follows, to wit:
"Section 4 2 31. Discharge of
Weapons. It is hereby declared
'.. unlawful for any person or per-
sons, except peace officers In the
discharge of their duties, to dis-
charge or cause to be discharged
within the corporate limits of the
City of Newport Beach any rifle,
shotgun, pistol, revolver, or other
firearm, or any air -gun, air - pistol,
or air- rifle, or any other weapon
which emits a projectile as a re-
sult of pressure exerted at the
breach, unless said person or per-
sons have first obtained permis-
sion in writing ao to do from the'.

"Section 4232. Punishment. Any
person violating the provisions of
Section 4231 of this Code shall be
deemed guilty of a misdeameanor
and upon conviction thereof shall
be punished by a fine of not less
than Five ($5.00) Dollars nor
more than Fifty ($50.00) Dollars,
or be imprisoned in the City jail.

"Section 4233. Effective Date.
This ordinance is hereby declared

There is, at present, no ordi-
nance or other law prohibiting the
discharge of firearms and air -guns
within the corporate limits of the
City of Newport Beach. To pro-
tect the lives and property of the
citizens of Newport Beach espec-
ially in view of the periodic influx
of people into this City, requires
t h e immediate passage of this
ordinance and its taking effect
immediately."
SECTION 2: This ordinance
shall be published at least once
in the NewportBalboa Press, a
newspaper of general circulation
printed, published and circulated
in the City of Newport Beach, and
shall be in force and effect im-
mediately upon the final passage
thereof.
The above and foregoing ordi-
nance was introduced at a regular
meeting of the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach held
on the 14th day of February, 1050,
and was finally passed a n d
adopted on the 27th day of Feb-
ruary, 1050, by the following vott,
to wit:
