ORDINANCE NO. 627
ORDINANCE APPROVING THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN
UNINHABITED TERRITORY
CONTIGUOUS TI THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH LY-
ING SOUTHERLY OF CALIF-
ORNIA STATE HIGHWAY,
OR:A -60 -A AND NORTHERLY
OF THE FORMER COURSE
OF THE SANTA ANA RIVER
AS ESTABLISHED IN CASE
NO. 23686, ORANGE COUNTY
SUPERIOR COURT, KNOWN
AS BANNING NO. 1 PARCEL.
The City of Newport Beach, by
and through its City Council, does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: That the annexa-
tion to the City of Newport Beach,
Orange County, California, of that
certain uninhabited territory con-
tiguous to said City, lying South-
erly of California State Highway
ORA -60 -A and Northerly of the
former course of the Santa Ana
River, as established in Case No.
23686, Orange County Superior
Court, being adjacent to a portion
of the said City of Newport Beach,
is hereby approved, and that the
said parcel' of property is hereby
ordained to be annexed to and
made a part of the City of New-
port Beach, Orange County, Calif-
ornia, that said territory is par-
ticularly described as follows:
All that certain land situated
in the County of Orange, State
of California, contiguous to
the City of Newport Beach,
described as follows, to wit:
Beginning at the point of in-
tersection of the Southerly
line of the 100 foot right of
way of the California State
Highway, ORA -60 -A and the
Northwesterly boundary of Ir-
vine's Subdivision, as shown
on a Map recorded in Book 1,
page 88 of Miscelfaneous
Maps, records of Orange
County, California said point
being an angle point in the
City boundary of the City of
Newport Beach: thence along
said northwesterly boundary
line of Irvine Subdivision and
its Southwesterly prolonga-
tion South 39' 43'45" West
241.63 feet to a point in the
line of ordinary high tide of
the Pacific Ocean in Newport
Bay and designated "North
Line" as established by the De-
cree in the action entitled,
City of Newport Beach, plain-
tiff, vs F. M. Strobridge, et
al., Defendants, Case No. 23-
686, of the Superior Court, of
the State of California, in and
for the County of Orange, a
certified copy of which decree
was recorded September 19th,
1928 in Book 201, Page 253
of Official Records; thence
along said ordinary high tide
line thru the follo,vmg cours-

North 58 °28'28" West 1085.-
28 feet: thence North 66'44'-
18" West 584.64 feet: thence
North 60'19'50" West to an
intersection with said South-
erly Right of Way Line of
State Highway ORA -60 -A:
thence along the Southerly
line of said California State
Highway, 100 feet in width,
through the following cours-
es and distances: South 83'-
18' East to the beginning of
a curve concave to the South,
having a radius of 950 feet
and tangent to the last men-
tioned course: thence along
said curve, a distance of 287.95'
feet: thence South 65.56' East
667.17 feet: thence on a curve
concave to the Southwest hav-
ing a radius of 950 feet and
tangent to the last mention-
ed course a distance of 195.51
feet: thence South 54'08'30"
East 387.06 feet to the begin-
ning of a curve: thence on a
curve concave to the North-
east having a radius of 1050
feet and tangent to the last
mentioned course a distance of
292.30 feet: thence South 70'-
05'30" East to the point of
beginning.
SECTION 2: That the boundar-
ies of the City of Newport Beach,
Orange County, California, be and
the same are herby, altered to
include the above described terri-
tory, the annexation of which is
approved and ordained herein, and
incorporated into the City of New-
port Beach, Orange County, Calif-
ornia.
SECTION 3: That the proceed-
ings and annexation herein or-
dained are had and taken under
and pursuant to the provisions of
an act of legislature of the State
of California, designated and re-
ferred to as the "Anexation of Un-
inhabited Territory Act of 1939."
SECTION 4: The City Clerk
shall cause this ordinance to be
published within fifteen days after
its passage at least once in the
Newport- Balboa Press, a news-
paper of general circulation pub-
lished and circulated in the City
of Newport Beach.
The above and foregoing ordi=
nance was introduced at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach held on the
14th day of August, 1950, and was
finally passed and adopted on the
28th day of August, 1950, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Greeley,
Blue, Isbell.
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN
Finch, Drake.
