ORDLNANCE NO. 786
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1: Section 6147c en-
titled "Same— Exception . as to
Penny Arcades" be and the.bame
is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 6147c. Same— Excep-
Aff tion as to Penny Arcades. Sec-
tion 6147 of this code shall not
apply to the keeping, mainten-
ance, possession or control in any
duly licensed penny:ereade in the
........ City of Newport`s BLJIiW'of any
of the machines, games; or de-
vices as set forth in Section 6147.
All such games and devices in
such duly licensed places of
------- amusement, and the owners, op- ,.
erators or possessors thereof
shall, however, be subject to all
other laws and ordinances of the
State of California and the City
of Newport Beach pertaining to
gambling.
"This Section 6147c, be and the
same is hereby repealed effective
October 1, 1957, and until the ef-
fective date of such repeal, the
provisions of Section 6203i shall
not apply.
"The license fee for each penny
arcade shall be the sum of $300:
00, commencing with the time of
the filing of an application there-
for and ending October 1, 1957.
Any such licenses granted by the
City of Newport Beach for the'
operation of a penny arcade shall
not be transferable."
SECTION 2: This ordinance is
hereby declared by the City Coun-
cil to be necessary as an emer-
gency measure for the preserva-
ti6n of the public peace, health
or safety for he following rea-
sonA: That the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach on
May 28, 1956, adopted Ordinance
No. 782 which amended the fees
to be charged for licenses for
games of skill, shooting gallery,
and other matters therein set
forth and it is necessary to adopt
an emergency ordinance to carry
out the intent of the City Coun-
cil for licenses concerning penny
arcades for the period ending
October 1, 1957.
SECTION 3: That this ordin-
ance shall take effect immediate-
ly upon the passage thereof and
shall be published once in' the
Newport- Balboa News- Press, a
newspaper of general circulation
printed and published and circu-
lated in the City of Newport
Beach.
The above and foregoing ordin-
ance was introduced and adopted
at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Newport
Beach held on the 28th day of
May, 1956, by the following vote,
to -wit:

bie, Ridderhof, Hill:
NOES, COUNCILMEN:
Wilder.
