ORDINANCE NO. 942
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AMEND-
ING SECTION 8100 OF AND
ADDING SECTION 8100.4 TO
THE NEWPORT BEACH MU-
NICPPAL CODE RELATING TO
THE UNIFORM BUILDING
CODE.
The City Council of the City
of Newport Beach does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. Section 8100 of the
Newport Beach Municipal Code
is amended to read:
"SECTION 8100. Adoption of
Uniform Building Code, That
certain document. three copies
of which are on file in the of-
fice of the City Clerk, marked
and designated as 'Uniform
Building Code 1958 Edition',
published by the International
Conference of Building Offi-
cials, and the whole thereof,
specifically including all of
the appendices thereto, to wit:
Chapters 7, 13, 23. 25, 48, 49
and 51, except such deletions,
modifications or amendments
thereto as have been or are
hereafter adopted, be and the
same is hereby adopted as the
Building Code of the City of
Newport Beach for regulating
the erection, construction, en-
largement, alteration, repair,
moving, removal, demolition,
conversion, occupancy, equip-
ment, use, height, area, and
maintenance of all buildings
and structures in the City of
Newport Beach; providing for
issuance of permits and col-
lection of fees therefor; pro-
viding penalties for violation
of such code; declaring and
establishing fire zones, except
as in this Code modified,
amended or otherwise changed;
and each and all of the regu.

conditions and terms thereof
are hereby referred to, adopted
and made a part hereof as
though fully set out"
SECTION 2. Section 8100.4 is
added to the Newport Beach Mu-
nicipal Code to read:
"SECTION 8100.4, Amend-
ment to Section 1501 of the
Uniform Building Code. Section
1501 of the Uniform Building
Code heretofore adopted in Sec-
tion 8100 is amended to read
as follows:
'Sec. 1501. Group J Occupan-
cies shall be:
Division 1. Private garages,
sheds, and agricultural build-
ings when not over one thou-
sand square feet (1000 sq. ft.)
in area.
Division 2. Fences three feet
(3') in height and higher,
tanks, and towers.
For occupancy separations
see Table No. 5 -B.
For occupant load see Section
3301'."
SECTION 3. This ordinance
shall be published once in the
official newspaper of the City,
and the same shall be effective
30 days after the date of its
adoption.
This ordinance was introduced
at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Newport
Beach held on the 14th day of
November, 1960, and was adopt-
ed on the 28th day of November,
1960, by the following vote, to
wit:
Ayes, Councilmen: Kingsley,
Atkinson, Cook, Stoddard, Hart,
Lorenz, Somers.
Noes: Councilmen: None.
Absent Councilmen: None.

regularly adopted, passed, and approved by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting of
said City Council held at the regular meeting place thereof, on
the 28th day of November 2 1960 , by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Kingsley, Atkinson, Cook, Stoddard,
Hart, Lorenz, Somers
