AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
AMENDING SECTION 12.32.020 OF THE NEWPORT
BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE PROHIBITING THE OPERATION
OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES OVER SIX THOUSAND POUNDS
ON BACK BAY DRIVE (FROM SAN JOAQUIN HILLS ROAD
TO EASTBLUFF DRIVE)
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach DOES
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 12.32.020 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:
"12.32.020 Commercial Vehicles Prohibited From
Using Certain Streets- Sign Posting. (a) When signs
are erected giving notice thereof, no person shall
operate any commercial vehicle exceeding 6,000 pounds
gross weight at any time upon any of the streets or
parts of streets described in subparagraph (b) of this
Section. The City Traffic Engineer shall erect and
maintain appropriate signs on those streets affected by
this Section.
(b) The following streets are the streets designated
by the City Council upon which commercial vehicles exceed-
ing 6,000 pounds gross weight may not be operated:
1. Acacia Avenue from Coast Highway to Pacific
Drive.
2. Back Bay Drive from San Joaquin Hills Road to
Eastbluff Drive.
3. Begonia Avenue from Coast Highway to Pacific
Drive.
4. Carnation Avenue from Coast Highway to Bayside
Drive.
5. Goldenrod Avenue from Coast Highway to First
Avenue.

6. Heliotrope Avenue from Coast Highway to Bayside
Drive.
7. First Avenue from Acacia Drive to Iris
Avenue."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once
in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be
effective thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the
12th day of October , 1976, and was adopted on the
26th day of October , 1976, by the following vote,
to wit:
