Banning Ranch
is the largest parcel of
unprotected coastal open

with publicly -owned open space
planned to be the new
ORANGE COAST RIVER
PARK
Banning Ranch
Wildlife
The USFWS has declared the entire
Banning Ranch as critical habitat for the
threatened California Gnatcatcher.
The USFWS has also declared
critical habitat for the endangered
San Diego Fairy Shrimp on the
Banning Ranch mesa.
Cactus Wren
Banning Ranch contains the largest population
of Cactus Wrens, a species of Special Concern,
in coastal Orange County.
Banning Ranch contains a wide variety of
avian, animal, reptile, amphibian and insect
species, including other protected species like
the least Bell's vireo & the California least tern.
Banning Ranch Conservancy
Formed as an IRS - recognized 501(c)3 non - profit
land trust California corporation in 2008
Operated as the Banning Ranch Park and Preserve
Task Force of the Sierra Club beginning in 1999
Mission Statement:
*The preservation, acquisition, conservation
and management of the entire Banning
Ranch as permanent public open space,
park and coastal nature preserve.
Measure M
*Sales tax revenue to OCTA to fund transportation
and road improvements
•$240 million available to acquire habitat to mitigate
against damage from transportation projects
