AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
ADDING SECTIONS 20.87.08.5, 20.87.263,
20.30.020(G), 20.40.020(G) and 20.51.027(G)
TO THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE TO
ESTABLISH REGULATIONS FOR THE ERECTION, USE
AND OCCUPANCY OF RELOCATABLE BUILDINGS WITHIN
THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, WHICH REGULATIONS
WERE FORMERLY IN TITLE 15 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH
MUNICIPAL CODE, BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach DOES
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 20.87.085 is added to the
Newport Beach Municipal Code to read:
"20.87.085 Building, Relocatable. The term
'relocatable building' shall mean a structure designed
for human occupancy for industrial, commercial or
�• professional purposes in such a manner as to be readily
transportable from site to site."
SECTION 2. Section 20.87.263 is added to the
Newport Beach Municipal Code to read:
"20.87.263 Readily Transportable. The term
'readily transportable' shall mean easily movable
from one location to another without the use of
professional and housemoving equipment, i.e., in
order to move the building to the site all that is
necessary is to add temporary 'trailer -type' wheels
directly to the frame of the building or to carry it
on a typical motor vehicle."
SECTION 3. Section 20.30.020(8) is added to the
• Newport Beach Municipal Code to read:
"20.30.020(g) Relocatable Buildings. No building
permit or relocation permit shall be issued for
the erection or placement of a relocatable building
• unless the applicant for said building permit has
first applied for and obtained a use permit from
the Planning Commission to maintain said relocatable
building at a specific location."
SECTION 4. Section 20.40.020(g) is added to the
Newport Beach Municipal Code to read:
"20.40.020(g) Relocatable Buildings. No building
permit or relocation permit shall be issued for
the erection or placement of a relocatable building
unless the applicant for said building permit has
first applied for and obtained a use permit from
the Planning Commission to maintain said relocatable
• building at a specific location."
SECTION 5. Section 20.51.027.(g) is added to the
Newport Beach Municipal Code to read:
"20.51.027(g) Relocatable Buildings. No building
permit or relocation permit shall be issued for
the erection or placement of a relocatable building
unless the applicant for said building permit has
first applied for and obtained.a use permit from
the Planning.Commission to maintain said relocatable
building at a specific location._"
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be published once in
the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective
thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption.

the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 14th

28th day of August 1978, by the following
