SUBJECT: Zoning Code Update
ITEM NO. 1
Discussion of framework for Commission review of the draft zoning
Zoning Code
code update and when will hearings take place.
Update
It was determined by staff and the Planning Commission that after
review of each part of the draft zoning code update a "straw vote'
would be taken directing staff with proposed amendments or changes
to the draft zoning code update with a final vote at the final hearing.
The Draft Initial Study for CEQA will be available for Planning
Commission review by June 3 or June 15.
Comments made by the public and the Planning Commission will be
integrated into the final draft zoning code presented to City Council.
Each meeting will be open for public comments on the entire draft
zoning code update.
Public comment was opened.
Kathy Crum inquired on the specific time each each meeting would be
scheduled to begin.
Ron Pflugrath, City's consultant for Draft Zoning Code Update, clarified
that the word "lot" should be used instead of "parcel" as outlined in the
NEWPORT BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION STUDY SESSION 05/20/2010
Style and Format principles of the Draft Zoning Code Update.
Jim Fitzpatrick, City of Costa Mesa Planning Commissioner announced
his presence at the meeting and his future attendance to some of the
scheduled draft zoning code meetings.
Public comment was closed.
Hearing dates were scheduled for the regular Planning Commission
meeting of June 3 and June 17. Special meeting dates were scheduled
for June 15, June 24 and a possible final meeting date on June 29.
Meeting time for June 15 will be at at 6:30 pm and meeting time for
June 24 and June 29 will be determined at a later date.
