The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby ordain as Section 12.24.050, "Decreasing State Speed Limits ", is amended to read Section 12.24.050, Decreasing State Speed Limits. It is hereby determined upon the basis of engineering and traffic surveys that the speed permitted by State law outside of business and residence districts as applicable upon the streets or parts thereof described in Sections 12.24.055 through 12.24.090 is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as hereinafter designated on those streets or parts thereof when signs are erected giving notice thereof. Section 12.24.055, "Prima Facie Speed Limit -- Fifty -five Miles Per Hour ", is repealed and replaced to read as follows: Section 12.24.055, Prima Facie Speed Limit -- Fifty -five Miles Per Hour. The prima facie speed limit on the following named streets or parts thereof shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour: Jamboree Road from East Coast Highway to San Joaquin Hills Road. San Joaquin Hills Road from Marguerite Avenue to Spyglass Hill Road. Section 12.24.060, "Prima Facie Speed Limit - -Fifty Miles Per Hour', is repealed and replaced to read as follows: Section 12.24.060, Prima Facie Speed Limit - -Fifty Miles Per Hour. The prima facie speed limit on the following named streets or parts thereof shall be fifty (50) miles per hour: • Jamboree Boulevard from MacArthur Boulevard to Campus Drive. Jamboree Road between MacArthur Boulevard and San Joaquin Hills Road. MacArthur Boulevard from Campus Drive to Jamboree Boulevard. Irvine Avenue from 16th Street to a point eight hundred twenty -six (826) feet north of Mariners Drive. Jamboree Road from Bayside Drive to East Coast Highway. The prima facie speed limit on the following named streets or parts thereof shall be thirty (30) miles per hour: Balboa Boulevard from Medina Way to 23rd Street. Balboa Boulevard from 23rd Street to 32nd Street. Balboa Boulevard from 32nd Street to Coast Highway. Bayside Drive from Carnation Avenue to Marguerite Avenue. Dover Drive West from Westcliff Drive to Irvine Avenue. Hospital Road from Newport Boulevard to Superior Avenue. Irvine Avenue from 15th Street to 16th Street. Mariners Drive from Irvine Avenue to Dover Drive. • Mar Vista Drive. Newport Hills Drive East. Newport Hills Drive West. Riverside Avenue from Coast Highway to Cliff Drive. Santa Rosa Drive. Section 12.24.85, "Prima Facie Speed Limit -- Twenty -five Miles Per Hour ", is repealed and replaced to read as follows: Section 12.24.085, Prima Facie Speed Limit -- Twenty -five Miles Per Hour. The prima facie speed limit on the following named streets or parts thereof shall be twenty -five (25) miles per hour: Back Bay Drive from Jamboree Road to Shellmaker Road. Flagship Avenue, between Placentia Avenue and Dana Road. Goldenrod Avenue from Crown Drives to Fifth Avenue. Vista del Oro from Vista del Sol northerly to Eastbluff Drive. • 15th Street from Old Newport Boulevard to Irvine Avenue. Section 12.24.090 "Prima Facie Speed Limit -- Fifteen Miles Per Hour ", is repealed and replaced to read as follows: Section 12.24.090, Prima Facie Speed Limit -- Fifteen Miles Per Hour. This Ordinance shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption.
