Recommendation
Continue the hearing to a future date identified at the hearing.
Discussion
The applicant and representatives of the Cliff Haven and Newport Heights homeowners
associations have been regularly meeting to discuss the project since the initial public
hearing held on May 20, 2004. As the Commission will recall, the applicant and
neighborhood associations were directed to seek a compromise that both parties could
support. The applicant is prepared to provide the Commission an update on the
discussions from their perspective. Staff has requested that the principal participants
from Cliff Haven and Newport Heights to present an update from their perspective.
The applicant has had a traffic management plan prepared for the project by Linscott,
Law & Greenspan in response to comments made at the previous public hearing. The
plan was submitted on August 12th and staff will review the plan and present its
analysis and recommendations on it at the next meeting.
Staff is hoping that the discussions that occur during the hearing will assist in identifying
the direction the Commission might consider. Staff requests that the Commission
identify additional informational needs that can be prepared in advance of the next
meeting. Finally, staff recommends continuing the hearing to a future date appropriate
with the direction the hearing takes.
