COPY RESOLUTION OF INTENTION N0. 26 COPY
A resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Newport Beach, declaring that the public interest and also the
public convenience requires, and that it is the intention of the
said Board of Trustees to order certain work done in and upon
portions of certain public streets in the City of Newport Beach.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach do re-
solve and declare:
That the public interest and also the public convenience
require and that it is the intention of said Board of Trustees to
order the following described street work to be done:
Resolved that all of that portion of 28th and 29th Streets,
public streets of the City of Newport Beach which lies and is be-
tween Ocean Avenue also a public street therein and Southern Pa-
cific right of way, be filled in and brought to a sub -grade of
six inches below the official line and grade of said 28th and 29t
Streets, and then capped with a crown of earth six inches thick,
rolled and tamped to a true and even surface, on the line of and
to the official height and grade of said streets established and
provided for by Section four (4) of Ordinance Eighteen (18) of
the City of Newport Beach and on file in the office of the Clerk
thereof; provided, that this relsolution of intention shall not
apply to that portions of 28th and 29th streets which is now
filled, graded and capped as herein specified.
Resolved that all that portion of Bay Avenue a public stre
in the City of Newport Beach which lies between Newport Avenue an
20th Street in said City, be filled in and brought to a sub -grade
six inches below the official line and grade of said Bay Avenue
and then capped with a crown of eartU six inches thick, rolled an
tamped to a true and even surface on the line of and to the offic
height and grade of said Bay Avenue, established and provided for
by Section four (4), of Ordinance Eighteen (18) of the City of
Newport Beach and on file in the office of the Clerk thereof, pro
vided that this resolution of intention shall not apply to that
portion of Bay Avenue which is now filled, graded and capped as

herein specified.
Resolved that a cement sidewalk and cement curbing be con-
structed upon and along that portion of 28th and 29th streets,
public streets of the City of Newport Beach, which lies between
Ocean Avenue, also a public street in said city and Southern Pa-
cific right of way; the cement sidewalk and curbing shall be con-
structed upon and along both sides of said 28th and 29th streets
and upon the sidewalk reservations established and provided for
on said streets by subdivision % ;c" of Section One (1) Ordinance
Twenty -four (24) of the City of Newport Beach, and now.on file in
the office of the Clerk thereof. The cement sidewalk shall be
constructed uponaand along the inner portion of said sidewalk res
ervation and adjoining and parallel with the property line on sai
streets and shall be 5 ft. and six inches in width. The cement
sidewalk shall be constructed in accordance with the specificatio
for constructing cement sidewalks in the City of Newport Beach as
established and provided for by subdivisions "a" and "b" of Sec-
tion 4 of Ordinance 24 of said city and now on file in the office
of the Clerk thereof, which specifications are and shall be:
(a) The earth foundation shall be filled in and tamped
solid to such a height as when surfaced shall conform to the grad
established for said streets;
(b) The cement surfacing of said sidewalks shall consist
of a foundation layer 2z" thick of concrete composed of seven
parts of fine clean gravel to one part of best Portland cement,
and finished with a layer Z" thick composed of equal parts of
clean sharp sand and best Portland cement and floated and trowele
to a true even surface, sloping from the property line towards
the street in the ratio of 3 /16th of an inch fall to each foot in
width of the sidewalk.
The cement curbing shall be constructed upon said sidewalk
reservation upon, along and parallel with the outer of street

line thereof and shall be constructed in accordance with the spe-
cifications for constructing cement curbing established and pro-
vided for by subdivision "c" of Section 4 of Ordinance 24 of the
City of Newport Beach and now on file in the office of the Clerk
thereof, which specifications are and shall be as follows:
(c) The curb shall consist bf a core ten inches (1011)
thick at the bottom and 6" at the top and 15" deep, set with the
batter towards the street and the top when finished in line with
the sloping surface of the walk; the core to be concrete composed
of seven parts of fine, clean gravel to one part of best Portland
cement, the top and upper 10t7 of the batter or street face to be
dressed 2" thick with a cement finish composed of equal parts of
sharp clean sand and best Portland cement.
Provided that this resolution of intention shall not apply
to that portion of 28th and 29th streets upon and along which a
cement sidewalk and a cement curb has been constructed as herein
specified.
Resolved that the Clerk of the City of Newport Beach post
this resolution conspicuously for two days on or near the door
of the council chamber of the Board of Trustees and publish the
same by two insertions in the NEWPORT NEWS a weekly newspaper
published and circulated in the City of Newport Beach, which weekl
newspaper is hereby designated for that purpose*
Resolved, that the Street Superintendent shall cause to
be conspicuously posted along the line of said contemplated work
at nol- more than 100 ft. in distance apart, but not less than
three in all, notices of the passage of this resolutions said no-
tices shall be headed: "NOTICE OF STREET WORK ", in letters not
less than one inch in length and shall in legible characters stat
the fact of the passage of this resolution, its date, and briefly
the work or improvement proposed and refer to the resolution for
further particulars.

He shall also cause a notice similar in substance to be
published by one insertion in the NEWPORT NEWS, a weekly newspape
published and circulated in the City of Newport Beach which is
hereby designated for that purpose.
The above and foregoing resolution of Intention No. 26 was
adopted, passed and approved by the Board of Trustees of the City
of Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 13th
dgy of January, A.D. 1913, by the following vote:
Ayes: Albert Hermes, S. L. Collins, W. K. Parkinson.
Noes: None
Absent: R. J. Stauss, C. H. Way.
