A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE .
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING THEIR INTENTION
TO ORDER THE IMPROVEMENT OF CERTAIN PORTIONS
of COAST BOULEVARD PLACE, COAST BOULEVARD, 29th
STREET, 36th STREET, FINLEY AVENUE, AND OF A CER-
TAIN ALLEY WITHIN SAID CITY UNDER THE IMPROVE-
MENT ACT 00 1911,
The Board of Trustees of the City of NEWPORT BEACH
do resolve as follows:
SECTION 1.
That the Public interest.:and convenience require ana
it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of the City of
NEWPORT BEACH to order that the following work be done, to —wit:
1. That concrete pavement five (5) inches thick be
constructed in and upon the roadways of certain portions of
streets and avenues in the City of NEWPORT BEACH, as follows:
(a) 29th Street, from the northeasterly line of
the Pacific Electric Railway# Company's right —of —way to the
southwesterly line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company's
right —of —way.
(b) Coast Boulevard Place from the northeasterly
line of Coast Boulevard to the northwesterly line of 30th Street..
(c) Coast Boulevard between the northeasterly curb
line of Coast Boulevard and the northeasterly line of said Coast
Boulevard, from the northwesterly prolongation of the northeastr-
eweterly curb line of Coast Boulevard Place to a line, which line
is 49.10 feet southeasterly of and parallel with the northeaster-
ly prolongation of the center line of 31st Street,
(d) Finley Avenue from the northeasterly prolonga-
tion of the northwesterly line of 36th Street to the westerly line
of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company's right —of —way,'
(e) 36th Street from the northeasterly line of Ocean
Avenue to the Southwesterly line of the Pacific Electric Railway
CompanylB right —of —way; and from the northeasterly line of the

curb returns at all corners of alleys intersecting with or ter-
minating at said part of 36th Street; and from a line 90.10 feet

Southern Paoific Railroad Company'e right —of —way to the southwest-
erly line of Coast Boulevard; and from the northeasterly line or
Coast Boulevard to a line, which line is 97 feet northeasterly
of and parallel with the northeasterly line of Pacific Avenue;

and from a line which line is 97 feet southwesterly of and paral—
lel with the southwesterly line of Finley Avenue to the eouth,i !
westerly line of Finley Avenue. Including all those portions de-
eignated upon the plane hereinafter referred to of the Intereec-
tione of said above described portions of streets and avenues
with other streets and avenues and with alleys.
2. That the entire width of the first alley lying north-
easterly of Ocean Avenue from the northwesterly line of 33rd Street
to the southeasterly line of 34th Street; and from the northwest-
erly line of 34th Street to the southeasterly line of 36th Street;
and from the northwesterly line of 36th Street to the southeast-
erly line of 37th Street be surfaced with clay and gravel six ( 6).
inches thick, including all those portions designated upon the
plane hereinafter referred to of the intersections of said above
described alley with streets and with alleys.
3. That concrete cur7ge be constructed along the roadways
of certain portions of streets and avenues in the City of NDIPORT'
BEACH, as follows:
(a) Along the southwesterly line of the roadway of
Coast Boulevard Place from the northwesterly line of 30th Street
to the northeasterly line of Coast Boulevard.
(b) Along the northwesterly line of the roadway of
3"ti Street from the northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue to a line
22 feet northeasterly of and parallel with the last mentioned
line; and a curb return at the northwesterly corner of the first
alley northeasterly of Ocean Avenue; and curb returns at the north-
westerly and northeasterly corners of the first alley southwest-
erly of Coast Boulevard; and from the northeasterly line of Coast
Boulevard to the southwesterly line of LAKE AVENUE together with
curb returns at all corners of alleys intersecting with or ter-
minating at said part of 36th Street; and from a line 90.10 feet

line; and a curb return at the southwesterly corner of the first
alley northeasterly of Ocean Avenue; and from a line 90.10 feet
northeasterly of and parallel with the northeasterly line of
Pacific Avenue to a line 97 feet northeasterly of and parallel
with the northeasterly line of Pacific Avenue; and from a line
97 feet southwesterly of and parallel with the southwesterly line
of Finley Avenue to the southwesterly line of Finley Avenue.
(d) Along the northeasterly and northerly and the:.
southwesterly and southerly lines of the roadway of Finley Avenue
from the northeasterly prolongation of the northwesterly line of
36th Street to the westerly line of the first alley easterly of
Railroad Avenue, including curb returns at all corners of Streets
or alleys intersecting with or terminating at said part of
Finley Avenue.
Said concrete curbs shall be of the dimensions and at
the locations shown upon the plan hereinafter referred to.
4. That concrete sidewalks three and one —half (3 1/2)
inches thick be constructed in certain portions of streets and
aveneus in the City of NEWPORT BEACH as follows:
(a) Along the northwesterly side of 36th Street
from the northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue to a line 22 feet
northeasterly of and parallel with the northeasterly line of
Ocean Avenue; and from the southeasterly prolongation of the
northeasterly line of the first alley northeasterly of Coast
Boulevard to the southeasterly prolongation of the southwesterly
line of the first alley southwesterly of Lake Avenue; and from

the southeasterly prolongation of the northeasterly line of the
first alley southwesterly of Lak" Avenue to the eouthweeterly
line of Lake Avenue; and from a "ne 90.10 feet northeasterly of
and parallel with the northeasterly line of Pacific Avenue to a
line 97 feet northeasterly of and parallel with the northeaster-
ly line of Pacific Avenue; and from a line 97 feet southwesterly
of and parallel with the southwesterly line of Finley Avenue to
the southwesterly line of Finley Avenue.
(b) Along the southeasterly side of 36th Street from
the northeaeterly line of Ocean Avenue to a line 88 feet north-
easterly of and parallel with:the northeasterly line of ocean
Avenue; and from a line 90.10 feet no easterly of and parallel
with the northeasterly line of Pacific Avenue to a line 97 feet
northeasterly of and parallel with the northeasterly line of
Pacific Avenue; and from a line 97 feet southwesterly of and
parallel with the southwesterly line of Finley Avenue to the
southwesterly line of Finley Avenuej
(c) Along the northeasterly and northerly, and the
southwesterly and southerly sides of Finley Avenue from the
northeasterly prolongation of the northwesterly line of 36th
Street to the westerly line of the first alley easterly of Rail-
road Avenue, including eidewalk.returne at the corners of all
streets or avenues interseeting with or terminating at said part
of Finley Avenel.
Said Concrete sidewalks shall be of the dimensions and
at the locations shown upon the plan hereinafter ref6rred to.
5. That six (6) inch diameter cement pipe sanitary
house connection sewers be constructed from the cement pipe
sanitary sewer already in place along the center line of said
36th Street to the curb line (except where cement pipe sanitary
house connection sewers are already in place) in the following
portions of said 36th Street;
In the northwesterly portion of the roadway between the
northeasterly line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company's :.•
right —of —way and the southeasterly prolongation of the:.southwest-

line of the first alley southwesterly of Coast Boulevard and be-
tween the southeasterly prolongation of the northeasterly line
of the first alley southwesterly Of Lake Avenue and the .sou fl-

In the southeasterly portion of the roadway between the
northeasterly line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company's
right -of -way and the southwesterly line of Pacific Avenue.
6. That six (6) inch' diameter cement pipe sanitary
house connection sewers be constructed from the cement pipe
sanitary sewer already in place along the center line of Finley
Avenue, to the southwesterly curb line of said Finley Avenue
(except where cement pipe sanitary house connection Beware are
already in place) between the northeasterly prolongation of the
center line of 36th Street and the westerly line of Railroad Avenue.
All of the aforesaid six (6) inch diameter cement pipe
sanitary house connection Beware shall be constructed on the grades
in the manner and at the locations shown upon the plan hereinafter
referred to.
7. That all those portions of the streets avenues and
alleys upon which concrete paving,conerete curb, concrete Bids-
walk or a surfacing with clay and gravel is to be constructed as
hereinbefore described, be graded to the official grade.
8. All of said work shall be done in accordance with
the plan designated as "CITY OF NEWPORT REACH, CALIFORNIA, PLAN
No. 276" adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport
Beach on the - 7-4 day of May, 1923, and on file in the office
of the City Engineer in the said City.
The surfacing with clay and gravel of the alley herein -
before described shall be done in further accordance with Bpeci-
ficationB therefore designated as "SPECIFICATION NO. 23, Speci-
fications for the clay and gravel surfacing of streets in the City
of NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA" heretofore adopted by the Board of
Trustees of said City and on file in the office of the City Clerk,
and the construction of concrete pavingnt, concrete curb, and
concrete sidewalk on those portions of the streets and avenues

hereinbefore described shall be done in further accordance with
SPECIFICATIONS NO. 33" for.the construction of concrete pavement,
• concrete curbs, and concrete sidewalks in the City of Newport
• Beach ", adopted by resolution No. 165 of the Board of Trustees
of said City and on file in the office of the City Clerk. The
construction of cement pipe sanitary house connection sewers in
those portions of the streets and avenues hereinbefore described
shall be done in further accordance with Specifications No. 27
adopted by Resolution No. 97 as said Specifications No. 27 are
amended by Resolution No. 131 ir� the Board of Trustees of said
City and on file in the office of the City Clerk.
SECTION 2.
That the said contemplated work or improvement in the
opinion of the said Board of Trustees is of more than local or
ordinary public benefit and said Board of Trustees makes the
expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the district
hereinafter described, and declares that the district benefited
by said work and improvement, and to be assessed to pay the costa
and expenses thereof, is all that portion of the City of Newport
Beach within the following described exterior boundary lines:
Beginning at the most easterly corner of Lot 10, Block 12B
of a map of LAKE TRACT as recorded in Miscellaneous Maps, Book 4
page 13, Records of Orange County, California; then southwesterly
in a direct line to the most southerly corner of Lot 1, of the
last mentioned Block 128; thence northwesterly in a direct line
to the most westerly corner of Lot 1, Block 129 of the aforesaid
map of LAKE TRACT; thence westerly in a direct line to the most
easterly corner of Lot 21, Block 30 of a map of Newport Beach
as recorded in Miscellaneous Maps, Book 3, page 26, Records of
Orange County, California; thence northwesterly in a direct line
to the most easterly corner of Lot 20 of the last mentioned
block 30; thence southwesterly in a direct line to the most east-
erly corner of Lot 5, of the last mentioned Block 30; thence

southwesterly along the southeasterly line of the last mentioned
Lot 5 to the most southerly corner thereof; thence northwesterly
• along the northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue to the most wester-
ly corner of Lot 8, Block 36 of the aforesaid map of Newport
Beach; thence northeasterly in a direct line to the meet wester-
ly corner of Lot 9, Block 36 of a map of RIVER SECTION as record-
ed in Miscellaneous Maps, Book 4, page 25, Records of Orange
County, California; thence southeasterly in a direct line to the
meet westerly corner of Lot 2,2, of the last mentioned Block 36;
thence northeasterly in a direct line to the most northerly corn-
er of Lot 20, of the last mentioned Block 36; thence northeaster-
ly in a direct line to the most westerly corner of Lot 16 of the
last mentioned Block 36; thence northeasterly inaa direct line
to the most northerly corner. of Lot 11, Block 136, of the afore-
said map of River Section; thence easterly in a direct line to
the most westerly corner of Lot 14, Block 236 of a map of CANAL
SECTION as recorded in Miecellan®ous Maps, Book 4, page 98,
Records of Orange County, California; thence northeasterly in a
direct line to the most northerly corner of Lot 3, Block 336
of the aforesaid map of Canal Section; thence northeasterly in
a direct line to the most westerly corner of Lot 7, Block 435
of the aforesaid map of Canal Section; thence northeasterly in
a direct line to the most northerly corner of Lot 5, Block $35
of the aforesaid map of Canal Section; thence southeasterly iA

which point is 75 feet northwesterly of the northeasterly prolonga-
tion of the center line of 31st Street, measured along the center
line of said Coast Boulevard; thence north easterly along a line
which line is 75 feet northwesterly of and parallel with the
center line of 31st Street, a distance of 55 feet to a point;
thence southeasterly in a direct line to the most easterly corner
cf Lot 4, Block,130 of the aforesaid map of LAKE TRACT; thence
southwesterly in a direct line to the most northerly corner of
Lot 10, of the last mentioned Block 130; thence southeasterly
in a direct line to the most northerly corner of Lot 20, Block 129
of the aforesaid map of Lake Tract; thence northeasterly in a
direct line to the most northerly corner of Lot 12, of the last
mentioned Block 129; thence southeasterly along the northeasterly
line of Lot 12, of the last mentioned Block 129, to the most east-
erly corner of the last mentioned Lot 12; thence southeasterly in
a direct line to the place of beginning, excepting therefrom any
lands forming any part of any public street or alley.

For further identification and description of^assesement
district reference is hereby made to a map thereof designated as
Plan No. 277 of Assessment District for the improvement of certain
portions of Coast Boulevard Place and certain other streets, ave-
nues and an alley in the City of NEWPnRT BEACH, California,, ap-
proved by the Board of Trustees of said City on the y

of May, 1923, and said City�on which the exterior boundaries
of said district are indicated by a. red border line. < =`
SECTION 3.
The said Board of Trustees determines that serial bonds
shall be issued to represent each assessment of t.25.00 or over for
the costa of said work or improvement; said serial bonds shall ex-
tend over a period of nine years from the 2nd day of January nQxt
succeeding the date of said bonds and shall bear interest at the
rate of seven per centum per annum, and an even annual proportion
of the principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the 2nd
day of January of each year after their date until the whole'is
paid and the interest shall be payable semi- annVally by coupon on
the second day of January and July respectively of each year at
the rate of seven per centum per annum on all sums unpaid until the
whole of said principal and interest have been paid.
All of the proceedings for the aforesaid improvement and
for the issuance of said bonds shall be taken under and in accord^
ande with the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of the State
of California, known and designated as the "ILiPR09EMENT ACT of 191100
and all acts amendatory thereof.
SECTION 4.
It is hereby determined, and notice is hereby given that
on the Iday of ,1923, at the hour of 7;30 o'clock P.M.
of said day, at the rem gttlar meeting place of said Board of Trustees
in the City Hall of said City of NEWPORT BEACH, which is hereby
fixed as the time and place for the hearing of said matter, any and
all persons having any objections to the proposed work or improve-
ment above ■lntioned, may appear before said Board of Trustees and

show cause why said proposed improvement should not be carried out
in accordance with this Resolution.
SECTION 5.
The Board of Trustees does not deem it advisable that the
Clerk be required to mail copies of the Noticesof Improvement to
the owners, or reputed owners, and said Clerk shall not be'requir-
ed to mail any copies of said notice whatsoever.
The Superintendent of Streets shall post Notices of Im-
provement as required by statute. .
SECTION 6.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Reso�-,
lution and cause the sane to be published twice in the NEWPORT
NEWS, a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated, in
said City, and hereby designated for that purpose (there being
no daily newspaper published in said City).
