A Contract with the Pacific Electric Railway Co. for widening
the roadways in Central Avenue in Municipal Improvement District No. 6
was presented, and Councilman Paul B. Ellsworth introduced a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH APPROVING A CERTAIN AGREEMENT DATED THE 17TH DAY OF
DECEMBER, 1928, BETWEEN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, A MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION, PARTY OF THE FIRST PART AND IN SAID AGREEMENT
REFERRED TO AS THE ^CITY ", AND THE PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAILWAY
COMPANY, A CORPORATION, PARTY OF THE,SECOND PART AND IN SAID
AGREEMENT REFERRED TO AS THE "RAILWAY ", AND DIRECTING AND
AUTHORIZING THE ASAYOR OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH TO SIGN
SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, AND
FURTHER DIRECTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CLERK OF SAID CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH TO ATTEST THE SAME.
The Resolution was read, considered, designated RESOLUTION NO.
482 and upon call of the roll passed by the following vote:

DIRECTING THE GIVING OF NOTICE OF SALE, CREATING A FUND FOR
THE RECEPTION OF THE PROCEEDS DERIVED FROM THE SALE OF SAID
BONDS, AND PRESCRIBING THE FORM OF SAID BONDS AND INTEREST
COUPONS.
The Resolution was read, considered, designated RESOLUTION NO.
463 and upon call of the roll passed by the following vote:

On motion of Councilman Williamson seconded by Councilman
Ellsworth and carried, the bids were referred to the City Enn$gSneer and
City Attorney to investigate and report on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 1926
at 7130 o'clock P. M.
There being no further business on motion of Councilman Williamson
seconded by Councilman Hilmer and carried, the meeting adjourned to
7:30 o'clock P. M. on Wednesday, December 19, 1926. n

City Hall, Newport Beach, Jan. 7, 1929
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in regular
session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The meeting was called to
order by Mayor Johnson.
The roll was called showing the full Council present.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved
as read.
The reports of the heads of the departments were read and on
motion of Councilman Williamson seconded by Councilman Claire and
carried, the reports were accepted and filed.
Councilman Claire reported that the signal mast for the jetty
would cost $60.00 and'the Committee had secured it and was having it
erected.
Councilman Ellsworth reported in regard to the fishing stands
on the beach, that the Committee found there was a City Ordinance pro-
hibiting the construction of anything but a Class A building on the
beach which would be prohibitive, therefore they could not recommend
any relief from the present situation. On motion of Councilman William-
son seconded by Councilman Claire and carried,the report was accepted.
The communications were read but action on same was deferred
to take up matters pertaining to Lido Isle.
Attorney John J. Wilson asked permission to withdraw the
petition filed with the Board some time ago for the improvement work
on Lido Isle to make onaor two changes and then refile it, and on
motion of Councilman Williamson seconded by Councilman Claire and
carried, the request was granted.
The petition having been refiled was read and considered, and
on motion of Councilman Williamson seconded by Councilman Claire and
carried, the petition was accepted as amended, and the City Engineer
instructed to prepare plans and specifications for the work in
accordance with same upon the filing of a-bond by them in the sum
of $18,000.00.to indemnify the City Engineer for said work.
The License Agreement of the :3arren Brothers Co. for the
Warrenite Paving mixture, was presented, and on motion of Councilman
Claire seconded by Councilman Williamson and carried, the License
Agreement was accepted and filed.
