A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF

NEWPORT BEACH, FIXING THE RATE PER CENTUM AND
LEVYING A TAX UPON ALL OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY

WITHIN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH WHICH IS TAXABLE
THEREIN FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES.

The City Council of the City of Newport Beach do
9
resolve and declare as follows:

let. Resolved, that there be and is hereby
11
levied upon all of the taxable property within the City of
12
Newport Beach, which is taxable therein for municipal purposes,
13
a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary money with which
14
to carry on the various departments of the City of Newport Beach
15
for the current fiscal year.
16
2nd, Resolved, that the rate per centum of the
17
tax hereinafter levied shall be and is hereby fixed as the sum of
18
one (1) dollar three (3) cents on each one hundred dollars of
19
value designated for each fund as follows:

For the current expense fund — one (1) dollar-.-

For the library fund — three (3) cents
22
Total tax levy — one (1) dollar
23

3rd. Resolved, that in addition to all other
25
taxes herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby
26
levied on all of the taxable property within the City of Newport
27
Beach a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and
•
28
sufficient money to pay the annual interest on all issued,
•
29
outstanding and unpaid municipal bonds of the City of Newport
30
Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall
31
become due before the time for fixing the next generaltax levy

3 ($100.00) of value, and the same shall be collected at the same
4 time and in the same manner as all other municipal taxes are
5 collected excepting upon property annexed at an election held
6 the 11th day of February, 1924, and known as Corona Del Mar, pr
7 vided that the said taxes herein levied shall be exclusive of
8 any tax levied for the payment of interest and principal of
9 0320,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach issued and sold
10
for the completion of the municipal water system thereof, and
11
-- $74,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach issued and sold
12
for the construction and improvement of jetties in the City of
13
Newport Beach and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927_1:

4th. Resolved, that in addition to all other
15
taxes herein levied for municipal purposes there is hereby
16
levied on all of they taxable property within the City of Newport
17
Beach a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and
18
sufficient money to pay the annual interest on X3202000.00 bonds
19
of the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the completion
20
of the municipal water system thereof, issued, outstanding and
21
unpaid of the City of Newport Beach, and also such part of the
22
principal thereof as shall become due before the time for fixing
23
the next general tax levy in and for said City, and for the
24
further purpose of paying the annual interest on $474,000.00
25
bonds of the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the
26
erection and construction of jetties and the improvement of said
27

Beach, and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927, and also such part
29
of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time of
30
fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City,

The rate of tax hereby levied for the purpose of
paying the - interest and principal of said water bonds and said
jetty boJ as aforesaid, is hereby fixed at forty -five cents

(45¢) on each one hundred dollars (0100.00) of value.
5th. Resolved, that in addition to all other
taxes herein levied there is hereby levied on all the taxable .
property within the city of Newport Beach a tax of ten cents
(100) on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) for advertising
purposes, pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 144
submitted to and carried by a majority of the votes of all the
voters voting at an election held for the purpose of voting
for or against said ordinance on the 24th day of 8eptember,1918.
6th. Resolved, that in addition to all other
taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the
taxable property within the Municipal Improvement District No. 1
of the City of Newport Beach a tax of four cents (4¢) on each
one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the
payment of semi- annual interest on and the redemption of the
bonds of said district.
7th. Resolved, that in addition to all other
taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within Municipal Improvement District No. 2 of the City
of Newport Beach a tax of eighteen cents (180) on each one
hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment
of semi - annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of
said district.
8th. Resolved, that in addition to all other
taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within Municipal Improvement District No. 3 of the City
of Newport Beach a tax of fifty -five cents (55¢) on each one
hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment
of semi - annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of
said district.

9th. Resolved, that in addition to all other
taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within Municipal Improvement District No. 4 of the City
of Newport Beach a tax of twenty cents (20¢) on each one hundred
dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi-
annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said
district.
10th. Resolved, that in addition to all other
taxes herein levied on all of the taxable property within Mun-
icipal Improvement District No. 7 of the City of Newport Beach,

a tax of twenty -three (2o) cents on each one hundred dollars
(100.00) of the assessed valuation for the payment of semi-
annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said
district.
11th. Delinquencies having occurred in the
payment of assessments and interest thereon for the work done and
improvement made in the City of New:.ort Beach, pursuant to the
following resolutions.
Resolution of Intention No. 133, passed, adopted
and approved on the 6th day of July, 1920;
Resolution of Intention No. 160, passed, adopted
and approved on the 20th day of March, 1922;
Resolution of Intention No. 158, passed, adopted
and approved on the 20th day of March, 1922;
Resolution of Intention No. 156, passed, adopted
and approved on the 6th day of March, 1922;
Resolution of Intention No. 196, passed, adopted
and approved on the 7th day of August, 1922;
Resolution of Intention No. 215, passed, adopted
and approved on the 5th day of February, 1923;

Resolution of Intention No. 304, passed, adopted
and approved on the 26th day of November, 1924;
Resolution of Intention No. 312, passed, adopted
and approved on the 5th day of January, 1925;
Resolution of Intention No. 323, passed, adopted
and approved on the 16th day of February, 1925;
Resolution of Intention No. 370, passed, adopted
and approved on the 15th day of March, 1926;
Resolution of Intention No. 396, passed, adopted
and approved on the let day of November, 1926;
The property upon which the assessments and in-
terest were a lien having, on account of said delinquencies,
been sold to the City of Newport Beach, and there being no
available funds in the treasury of the City of Newport Beach
with which to pay the delinquent assessments and delinquent -
interest thereon, and the tax collector having made demand
on the City Council that a suitable amount be included in the
tax levy of 1929 -1930, for the purpose of providing funds with
which to make such payments, there is hereby levied on each
one hundred dollars ( #100.00) of assessed value of the real and
personal property in the City of Newport Beach therein taxable
for municipal purposes the sum of ten cents (10¢) for the
purpose of making such payments.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed,
adopted and approved by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the ,Z A,
day of September, 1929, by the following, to -wit:
