CALIF. OW RESOLUTION NO. O� WHEREAS, by Statutes. of 1931, Chapter 397,, it is provided that not less than the general prevailing rate of per diem wages- for work of a similar character in the locality in which the work is performed, and not less than the general pre- vailing rate of per diem wages for legal holiday and over -time work shall be paid to all laborers,• workmen and mechanics employed by or on behalf of any city in the State of California, engaged in the construction of public works, elolustve of maintenance work; and WHEREAS, it is further provided that the public body awarding any contract for public work on behalf of a city shall ascertain the general prevailing rate of per diem wages In the locality in which the work is to be performed for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract; and WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is about to call for bids for the improvement of Seashore Drive and certain other streets and certain property for which an order of Immediate possession and use has been granted by the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County of Orange, which notice is to be given pursuant to Statute and Resolution No• of the City of Newport Beach, adopted on the 17 day of 19310 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach hereby declares and states that they have asoertai ed the prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in whi the work eontemp3sted is to be performed for each oraft or type CC, workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, which said E City Council does declare and state to be as follors, to -wit: Awk Blacksmiths 6.00 Blademen 5.00 Crane Operators 5.00 Crane Operators' Helpers 4.50 Cement finishers ?.00 Cement finishers' helpers 4.50 Concrete mixer operators 6.00 Excavating machine operators 6.00 Excavating machine operators'' helpers 4.50 Foremen 6.00 Form setters 6.00 Form setters helpers 4.50 aaeoline shovel operators 5.00 C7scline shovel operators' helpers 4.50 Laborers 4.00 Uachinery repairmen 6.00 Pipe layers 6.00 Pipe layers' helpers 4.50 Pavement breaker 00 Z.50 Pavement header setters Rollermen 7.00, Superintendents 10.00 Steam shovel operators 5.00 Steam shovel operators' helpers 4.50 Subforemen 5.00 Tractor operators 00 Z.50 Truck drivers Teamsters 4.00 Timekeepers 5.00 Trenching machine operator (not less than eight feet) 5.00 Trenching machine operator (less than eight feet) 6.00 Watchmen 4.00 t7aterboys 2.50 For legal holiday (except Saturday afternoon) and-over- time work, the general prevailing rate for each of the respective crafts, or type of rorkmen or mechanics to be one and one-half times the prevailing rate of per diem wages.
