RESOLUTION NO. ;'(I
WHEREAS, it appears that many citizens of the City
of Newport Beach, California, are in favor of the Townsend Old
Age Pension Plan; and
WHEREAS, many bodies politic as well as many civic
organizations throughout the country have endorsed said plan and
have memorialized Congress to enact such law at the present
session of Congress; and
WHEREAS, it is the consensus of opinion of the
City Council of the City of Newport Beach that the enactment of
such a law would tend to alleviate the suffering amongst those
who are unable to do any work whatever, and would in addition
thereto, help the financial condition of the Country.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach respectfully petitions
the United States Congress of America to enact the Townsend Old
Age Pension Plan, as contemplated by said Act, and in its entirety;
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That certified copies of
21 this Resolution be sent to the Honorable Hiram Johnson, William G.
22 cAdoo and Sam L. Collins, representative from this district.
23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That certified copies of this
24 esolution be sent forthwith to said representatives by the Clerk
