ORDINANCE N0. 6d
The City of Newport Beach, by and through its City
Council, do ordain as follows;
Section 1. Ordinance No. 258 of the City of Newport
Beach is hereby amended by adding a new section thereto to be
known and designated Section 33A, and which shall read as
follows;
"33A. It shall be unlawful to park any motor vehicle

on Central Avenue., on the portion thereof known as North Drive,

between 9th Street and 23rd Street, in said city, between the
13
hour of twelve o'clock Noon, on August 24th, 1935, and eight
14

Signs shall be erected and maintained not more than

one.hundred fifty feet (1501) apart in each block, designating
17

the provisions of this eection."
Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an

urgency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of
20
public peace, health and safety, within the meaning of Section
21
1 of Article 4 of the Constitution, and therefore shall go into
22
effect immediately upon its first publication.

The facts constituting the necessity are follows;
24
That on the 24th day of August, 1935, the Tournament of Lights
25
Association of the city of-Newport Beach intends to hold and
26
will hold in the city of -Newport Beach a Tournament of Lights
27
parade; that said tournament of lights parade will bring
28
to said city thousands of motorists; that the streets of said

city will be greatly oongested'by incoming and outgoing motorists
30
on.said day and between the hour of twelve o'clock Noon on August
31
32 24th, and eight o'clock A. M. on August 25th; that said congestion

is liable to cause danger to motorists, pedestrians and property
within the city of Newport Beach and if said street is kept open
between the points designated, this danger will be greatly
lessened and to some extent eliminated.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
separate vote on the urgency of this ordinance and its passage
by.the vote of.five members -of the City Council of the city of
Newport Beach, and cause the same to be published once in
NMORT NEWS, a newspaper printed and circulated in the city
of Newport Beach, and upon such publication this ordinance shall
become immediately operative and take full effect.
I hereby certify that the question of the urgency
of the,foregoing ordinance was passed and the foregoing ordinance
was adopted by a vote of five (5) members of the City Council
of the city of Newport Beach at its meeting of August 17th,
1935.
